The Asus RT-AC88U has more than just a ton of LAN ports

 Initially thinking Amazon's Server was down, and I started checking and actually found the 2.4G radio in the 88U was not transmitting! Called Asus and they had me Re-Boot and insure I had the latest Firmware (I did) and it started working. Hung up the phone and thanked the CSR. Just a Hiccup? No! Within 5 Minutes the 2

... I suggested that for all the wasted time I spent on the phone and hours going through failed suggestions on how to correct the problems plus 3 trips in Returns to UPS that Asus pay the difference if they think this was the only way to supply me with a reliable, working Router

 I ordered the RT-AC88U instead and for the first 2 weeks, it was great,and I loved the 8 onboard Ethernet Ports. Then one morning we found none of our Smart Home Alexa Devices would respond.   Update 02/06/2021 Gig speed solution. I just got gigabit speed for internet and my router was stuck between 150-300 Mbps up and down. SUX0R If this happens to you, turn off QoS and be sure to reboot your router again. Just pressing 'Apply' is not enough for the setting to take effect

 **Backup your smart home device settings and routines BEFORE taking your old router offline. This includes Alexa devices and plugs, bulbs, etc.** If you are not willing to do this then DO NOT REPLACE YOUR ROUTER.  I've had a rock solid network using RT-AC68W for the last 4 years or so

 SUX0R If this happens to you, turn off QoS and be sure to reboot your router again. Just pressing 'Apply' is not enough for the setting to take effect. My speed now averages 840-940 Mbps with just that one change.

Spotty 2.4 or connection issues? Got Gigabit but stuck at 300 Mbps?

  Results: I can't tell you if the speed is really much faster since I just installed last night. And I probably need to get an X-Box to give it an acid test (assuming gaming requires the most connection power). But this thing's coverage is insane! When I finished setting up the Access Point in the garage, I just realized I have full bars wifi signal of the AC88U SSID! That means it punches through several drywalls and one concrete wall and almost 50 feet distance. It makes the setup of AP seems dumb, but I still want to have a router in the front as the portal

 Cost efficiency: $225 a router to extend the wifi range. Of course I get to hard-wired with many devices and probably get better speed.  Installation: I thought all I have to do is just swap out the old router. But it still took me almost three hours to finish the whole setup

 But those cables are really giving me headache). And it also includes the time I have to move my desktop and RT-AC66U to the garage to set up the Access Point.  Results: I can't tell you if the speed is really much faster since I just installed last night. Penetrating walls and strong singal

 I was fine with our old Linksys that died after this time frame but hell is was 60 bucks 🤦‍♂️. Don't buy this router get a Netgear or hell any router would be a better investment.

 I'm constantly fighting this router now, we have no cell phone signal where we live so we rely on wifi and this router is not reliable at all anymore. Can't believe I paid 275 bucks for this thing and it died this fast. I was fine with our old Linksys that died after this time frame but hell is was 60 bucks 🤦‍♂️. Don't buy this router get a Netgear or hell any router would be a better investment

" I said, "doesn't that defeat the purpose of why I purchased an Eero 6 to go back to WiFi 5?" She had no good answer. And I can't believe the best solution they can come up with is to downgrade back down to a WiFi 5 system after just purchasing this new Eero 6 system.  In my mind either the Eero 6 router has an internal issue or there's a software stability glitch that needs to be fixed, not to just not use the Eero 6 and go back to the Eero Pro 5!

 I did unplug the Eero extender and deleted it from the system to avoid any oversaturation of signal.  What was customer services' answer when I called about the sudden dropped internet (solid white to red indicator light)? "You may need to just go back to using your Eero Pro (5)." I said, "doesn't that defeat the purpose of why I purchased an Eero 6 to go back to WiFi 5?" She had no good answer. And I can't believe the best solution they can come up with is to downgrade back down to a WiFi 5 system after just purchasing this new Eero 6 system

LOVE Eero products, but not happy with the CSV

 I chose the second approach because I already had a switch.  In the past, many of my WiFi routers have “flaked out” after a while, probably because they get too hot for too long. I noticed that the main Eero unit gets warm, but not hot, to the touch, but only toward the bottom, where the circuit board is. I don’t think it gets warm enough to “fry” the electronics eventually; I certainly hope not

Coverage over speed

 I had Eeros excellent support to walk me through, as I wanted the new 6 as my main one, but was so easy, I could have done it myself.

Excellent. Got it to improve my coverage outside, added to a Pro system. So now have four units total. Lot coverage much improved, and my lot is large, and I think my camera system is faster

So this does support speeds of up to gigabit and supposedly covers up to 3,000 square feet. And it has two ethernet ports on each. This one also supports Zigbee and Thread just as a heads up

 And we have a little warranty safety and legal. It's been a couple days since I've unboxed these. I've been using as my main mesh system and so far so good. So no drop, something like that

 Jumping to the Airwrap, this is one of those super easy to use apps that's also very, very stable. So you could be up and running in literally 5 to 6 clicks and you're good to go. So essentially, it just tells you how to connect it to your modem and then it tells you to pick a Wi-Fi name and you're pretty much up and running. Very, very simple and it works very, very well
