The Asus RT-AC88U has more than just a ton of LAN ports

 Initially thinking Amazon's Server was down, and I started checking and actually found the 2.4G radio in the 88U was not transmitting! Called Asus and they had me Re-Boot and insure I had the latest Firmware (I did) and it started working. Hung up the phone and thanked the CSR. Just a Hiccup? No! Within 5 Minutes the 2

... I suggested that for all the wasted time I spent on the phone and hours going through failed suggestions on how to correct the problems plus 3 trips in Returns to UPS that Asus pay the difference if they think this was the only way to supply me with a reliable, working Router

 I ordered the RT-AC88U instead and for the first 2 weeks, it was great,and I loved the 8 onboard Ethernet Ports. Then one morning we found none of our Smart Home Alexa Devices would respond. UPDATE 3.28.19 -Asus Contacted Me -/ 2.4G  FAILURE is a Fact that Asus has now acknowledged.

  Update 02/06/2021 Gig speed solution. I just got gigabit speed for internet and my router was stuck between 150-300 Mbps up and down. SUX0R If this happens to you, turn off QoS and be sure to reboot your router again. Just pressing 'Apply' is not enough for the setting to take effect

 **Backup your smart home device settings and routines BEFORE taking your old router offline. This includes Alexa devices and plugs, bulbs, etc.** If you are not willing to do this then DO NOT REPLACE YOUR ROUTER.  I've had a rock solid network using RT-AC68W for the last 4 years or so

Spotty 2.4 or connection issues? Got Gigabit but stuck at 300 Mbps?

  Results: I can't tell you if the speed is really much faster since I just installed last night. And I probably need to get an X-Box to give it an acid test (assuming gaming requires the most connection power). But this thing's coverage is insane! When I finished setting up the Access Point in the garage, I just realized I have full bars wifi signal of the AC88U SSID! That means it punches through several drywalls and one concrete wall and almost 50 feet distance. It makes the setup of AP seems dumb, but I still want to have a router in the front as the portal

 Cost efficiency: $225 a router to extend the wifi range. Of course I get to hard-wired with many devices and probably get better speed.  Installation: I thought all I have to do is just swap out the old router. But it still took me almost three hours to finish the whole setup

 But those cables are really giving me headache). And it also includes the time I have to move my desktop and RT-AC66U to the garage to set up the Access Point.  Results: I can't tell you if the speed is really much faster since I just installed last night.  I was fine with our old Linksys that died after this time frame but hell is was 60 bucks 🤦‍♂️. Don't buy this router get a Netgear or hell any router would be a better investment.

 I'm constantly fighting this router now, we have no cell phone signal where we live so we rely on wifi and this router is not reliable at all anymore. Can't believe I paid 275 bucks for this thing and it died this fast. I was fine with our old Linksys that died after this time frame but hell is was 60 bucks 🤦‍♂️. Don't buy this router get a Netgear or hell any router would be a better investment

Just replaced my netgear r6900p with a wifi 6 asus AX3000. Flashed with merlin and happy. No crashes yet, nice and stable.

I'm currently with a nighthawk r6700v3 and I have multiple problems with it, I not getting full speed on a wired connection. the 5g band is not visible on my phone(but visible to other devices) and it seems that every firmware update break something else.

I'm wondering if I should invest in something faster and more stable 

most of my duties are streaming data on my home network, video streaming from the net and downloading stuff through torrents

what are the best routers 200$ can buy you?

Don't spend money unless you want this for long haul, highly doubt that the prices will come down significantly. ASUS RT-AX3000 is also a good AX class router.

I have been using the tp link archer c1200 from the past 2 years but always had issues with coverage. It used to give a decent connection upto 10 to 20 meters(not sure just an estimate,but the range seemed pretty bad)it would disconnect after that(5ghz would disconnect even  below this point)and games would he laggy even when sitting in the opposite room with just a wall in between. So recently read some reviews on the ax1500 seemed pretty good with the wifi6 stuff, but also read about it having less coverage than wifi5. So is it worth buying the ax1500?. Any suggestions about this router would be appreciated. Also please mention the range and speed and any other issues related to the ax1500. Thanks

Review on the tp link ax1500 router.

 First of all if you're transferring large files across the network via Wi-Fi, generally speaking yes this would be the best use case. But for those people who actually do that they tend to use the wired option and this one would do absolutely well. For testing purposes I took a 60 gigabyte file and I transferred the file from the NAS box that is connected via a gigabit cat6 cable to the router via Wi-Fi 6 onto a laptop with an SSD. Please note your own speed may vary on the speed of your SSD or hard drive

 Many standard hard drives have a speed of 80 megabytes per second write speed, hence SSD can hit up to 300 400 and a very good PCIe 4 or 3 SSD can hit up to a thousand.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi's if you needed to be separate but the Wi-Fi will be able to decide what is the best connection type for the device that it connects and you shouldn't have to worry about separating it. Both devices give you a warning that if you are using a non Wi-Fi 6 device and it has maybe aged not too well you might see some connectivity issues and that's a concern but at this stage in time most devices even with Wi-Fi 5 will be able to connect to these routers and you're kind of future-proofed for the future especially with this one because it can significantly hold more devices on its Wi-Fi network without sacrificing the bandwidth and speed so if you've got a household full of people who consistently download legal things then this will last very well throughout that time. The other major difference that I think is reasoning for the price increase is this has a Broadcom Chimp and that means that the speed of your internet will potentially be maybe five to ten percent faster but also more stable

 One main difference is you get two less actual antennas and the weight is significantly different. This is a really heavy device, it's packed with a lot of stuff but it looks exactly the same. So what is the main difference? Well the biggest difference that you could potentially notice but I don't believe you will is the fact that the AX3000 has a much higher Wi-Fi 6 speed, almost twice that of the actual AX1800. But is that a reason to choose either one of these? I actually don't think so

 An interesting feature is connecting if that than this to your router though I couldn't quite work out what the point would be if you connected your Alexa to this and I guess you could ask hey Alexa what's my internet speed today just like you end up asking hey Alexa what's the weather like. Friends thank you very much for watching I hope this helped you to decide which device is right for you obviously the price difference is significant but I would say that if you're considering between these two and you're not gonna have a lot of people using Wi-Fi and you still want Wi-Fi 6 performance this one is here and it's ready to go for you. AX1800 is probably my choice out of these two routers but I would say that if I was going for something that is just balls to the walls great I would choose this Broadcom ASUS AX3000 and you know what it doesn't look like a gaming router but it's got the exact same features that you might see in those fancy spider looking ones at a much lower price.  When you look for a router, you want to look for the latest technology. So WiFi 6 is the latest technology. Even if you don't have a device that has WiFi 6, if you eventually get one, you don't want to buy a new router just to benefit from the new WiFi standard. So buying the newest standard always helps the most

 My internet provider provides up to about 900. So even then I can really take advantage of the full speed it's able to transfer through WiFi. Just to give you guys an example.
