The four DIMM slots are in the same region, and capable of supporting up to 128GB of memory via four 32GB modules. The board does, of course, support standard memory speeds up to 3,600MHz, but Asus' OptiMem III technology on the board (which involves, according to the company, more resilient traces) can accept higher frequency and lower latency settings, with the expectations of memory overclock support up to 4,800MHz.

I Really like the fact that audio jacks are illuminated I've seen that already with other motherboards at Asus basically releases but the thing here with RGB is that you have this screen over here which you can really configure with anything you want. So please make note that if you're not using this, you're gonna pay extra for this whole setup because basically there needs to be a licensing when you usually put this card or expansion card with a motherboard and you know what? Hey guys, this is now from the Overclocker Magazine. So I'm gonna talk to you briefly about the ROG Maximus 12 Extreme. So this motherboard. The first thing I have to say about it is that this is undoubtedly the most impressive motherboard I've ever seen

 So as luck would have it all the DRAM I have is Samsung did I So I tried on this motherboard and I just couldn't get to 4,600 and then I tried 4500 was also a bit flaky 4400 and eventually I actually had to settle for 4266 which is still pretty impressive. Ok for for damn board. however I had seen that I Ritchie was claiming for the 800 and that sort of thing. Granted I don't have any of the DRAM kids that they said would be able to do for the 800 megahertz on this board

 It has all of that. but I think was a premium motherboard like that. It has to be more than just some of his parts. It has to be presentation, aesthetics

 You know I think this is a ton. The ball card is it Oh Nene DisplayPort on a mini DisplayPort E-types yeah, so dim thought to lots of cabling, It's literally it's like Christmas in here. So in terms of just making you realize Oh or feel that hey, you know I've actually made a good purchasing decision. What's going with this motherboard despite the very high price? Again, ROG has done an incredible job here, just giving you a ton of stuff

You don't have to connect it if you don't want to, it's there just to be able to feed extra power into the PCI Express for in the old days if you were running multiple cards and big overclocks and stuff like that. but it's getting kind of negated now, but it will be an option there for hardcore overclock is and the like

  AVOID THIS OVERPRICED PIECE OF TRASH LIKE THE PLAGUE!  Pros: - Lots of power delivery  Cons: - Quality Control issues (Expansion card ports broken from the factory) - The Intel I225-V LAN port doesn't work. No updates or new firmware can revive it. Many users report this port DOA on their boards. ASUS chose to use a problematic product in their board

 - You won't be able to use the expansion cards (DIMM M.2 and Thunderbolt) because they use PCIe lanes from the CPU, and the motherboard will force a slowdown of your video card (from x16 to x8). This is a performance and gaming motherboard, so such a slowdown will kill half of your FPS, and is nonsensical to include and charge you for those accessories on the motherboard price, when you really won't be able to use them if you want the full performance out of your hardware. ASUS doesn't mention this ANYWHERE in their specs and manuals, but you'll find out in practice soon enough

Overpriced trash, even at MSRP.

 Obviously, it's only for the very highest of high-end Pc builds. However, as the 750 dollars price tag means you could actually build a respectable full gaming Pc for the price of this single motherboard, it's an aspirational Z 490 motherboard and arguably the best gaming motherboard for Comet Lake overclocking. but I'll concede it's not a particularly realistic purchase for most of us.  If you want the best, most fully featured Intel Comet Lake motherboard, then I'm afraid you're going to have to pay for it and pay through the nose. If Asus Z 490 Maximus 12 Extreme is anything to go by, it is, as the name suggests, Extreme packing in a variety of luxurious and incredibly handy extras a freaking screwdriver with interchangeable heads for one, and it's also one of the highest performing Z 490 boards we've tested, But it only really makes sense if you're buying a K Series core I9 and genuinely intend to overclock the nuts off it. The Maximus 12 will allow you to get the highest clock speed out of your 1090k and won't turn it into a pile of molten slag while you're at it. The Msi Z 490 Godlike is actually the fastest Z 490 outright at stock speeds, but I'd rather have the Raj Board in my camp if I'm going down the Oc route

 Yes - the PCB could have been colored black - or yellow instead of old school green, but I am not able to see it once installed anyway, so it does not matter much to me.  I tried finding info on it such as TRIM, drivers or encryption, but it DOES have all wear leveling features but no encryption. I did not mind the absence of encryption since my Teamgroup (which beat my old 860 Samsung by a lot) SSD did not have encryption or it's own drivers or firmware updates. Once this was installed - it blew away the Teamgroup, the old Samsung and it made my already speedy PC feel like a new PC!  The Samsung that I had always tested below the advertised speed

 Even GTA V loads quicker! I am running a 32" at 1440P.  I am glad that when I was picking up the Samsung (before I placed this order!), I returned it right then and there, as I saved about $55 and GAINED a whole lot in performance. SK said that they would revise their website and provide a toolbox (they should have had one before launch - for such a large company), but I am HAPPY that I made this purchase and I trusted this brand because they actually design, MANUFACTURE and SUPPLY the memory to other brands, so of course they know what they are doing more than the other brands!  I give this the same praise as the pro reviewers do! The performance and the price make this a no contest for other brands! You get the performance (or better) of other brands TOP (most expensive) drives or better - for only $135! Again, SK Hynix MAKES the memory, so that is why they can bring such high quality for so low! If you do not know companies that are involved with the sources of PC components - just trust us and get this!

This is the first drive I had that got just about at the stated speeds! The increased write speeds truly make a difference in all functions! I was not sure of the benefits of faster write speeds, but once I started checking websites and DOWNLOADING games, playing games and video editing - I THEN noticed the benefits! Downloads now write as fast or faster than the internet bandwidth.  Games like GTA V (or anything, truth be told) have full draw, INCREASED detail, coloring, speed, frames/smoothness and overall performance! It is clear-cut with this drive! There is ZERO performance hits that I noticed with this - only performance increases and a CONSISTENT performance throughout all testing! Photoshop loads a lot quicker. Vegas Pro loads quicker

The Samsung would have cost me $195 after taxes, but I looked and I kept seeing reviews on this drive and I remember that SK Hynix did have drives, but they were not listed on 'other' sites that I was thinking about buying from.  The system tested, took 12 seconds to boot Windows 10 counting from the time I pressed the power button. I have tested several SSDs, and that is the fastest the system will boot. I have noticed that any drive with read speeds of 1800 MB/s or better will accomplish the task.  The SK hynix P31 500GB surpassed the advertised write speeds of 3100 MB/s reaching 3183

  I dropped a star since the software available was pretty much useless and many similar drives provide hardware encryption.  SK hynix P31 is a fast SSD and a good price point and fares even better if you could get one when discounted. If you do not need that much speed (most of us don't), you could get a less expensive SSD with even more capacity.

 I have noticed that any drive with read speeds of 1800 MB/s or better will accomplish the task.  The SK hynix P31 500GB surpassed the advertised write speeds of 3100 MB/s reaching 3183.53 MB/s. It felt short on advertised read speed of 3500 MB/s reaching just 3440

91 MB/s.  On real word test it managed to reach 2787 MB/s write speed and 2209 MB/s read speed. I transferred 70 GB of mixed data from another SSD with 3500 MB/s read speed. If you don't write that much data , filing up the SSD SLC cache, then the P31 will run a lot faster

High write performance, top endurance rating and runs cool.

 These days I operate my own photographic and design studio and have an HP graphics workstation that is substantially more sophisticated than most typical PC’s. My language is performance, not benchmark tests under ideal conditions or what manufacturers put on their spec sheets. The company who makes workstations like mine has installed Hynix memory for a very long time in their products, it’s what I buy when I upgrade memory. Due to the heavy use my systems get I was shopping for 1TB SSD’s and did a lot of research

 When I plugged my new Hynix into the slot and powered up my computer it was absolutely flawless, every app, every file, every preference, ever login, they were all exactly when they used to be only now I had a much larger, faster and brand-new main drive.
