 There are a couple of things that i dislike about the nova blast 2. Let'S get to those now starting with weight in my size, size 11. It is 11 ounces, which is you know a bit on the chunkier side. And ultimately, the problem for me is where it's balanced, so you're, just getting a lot of heal weight and a lot of that mass sort of pushed back towards the back of the shoe so with the unbalanced feel that makes the weight feel a little bit more Dramatic bringing us to our next dislike the heel, just the fact that the heel is so built back here

 It does provide you with plenty of life, a lot of fun and plenty of miles. That'S going to be comfortable underfoot for those long days, the shorter days, the faster days. I will definitely want to designate this more as a training shoe, definitely not race day shoe, but with the flight foam blast, the lock down the overall comfort of the shoe, i think the nova blast 2 makes for a fantastic all-around do-it-all daily trainer. I can't believe i just said that i really can, that being said, it's not all beautiful escarpment, climbs or cal street breakaways

 You could feel it no matter how many miles you put in the shoe. It was something that you could feel underfoot and it caused a bit of imbalance, the squish of the foam and the tightness and responsiveness of the foam, and also the reduction in that lump, as well as the additional width through the midfoot and the rest of the Midsole itself allows this shoe to be a lot more comfortable underfoot and it doesn't fight you or want to roll your foot in a certain direction. It just knocks the first version out of the water. So i'm happy to see these changes

 I think for a daily trainer, where you're probably going to get hundreds of miles out of the shoe. That'S a pretty good price point, and i've talked about shoes recently being at that 120-130 price point. That just seems to be the new starting point for daily trainers. They'Re gon na last you a while which kind of sucks i'd love that to be a hundred dollar price point, but the reality is we're just not seeing it anymore

ASICS NOVABLAST 2 REVIEW | The Ginger Runner

Swapped from Suacony Endorphine Speed 1 to these for last 1.5h of a 4h race. I bought these after a month of research, seeking a second 'main shoe' for training. They are very well made, nice looking materials, good ventilation, good grip

  Summed up- I'm disappointed in these based on what I expected from other reviewers. They are a solid, controlled shoe, a nicely built trainer, but I was expecting a softer sole and wider toe box. Size of fit is about 1/4 longer than a Saucony fit, a little more than that vs a Topo fit. Width is very standard

 I bought these after a month of research, seeking a second 'main shoe' for training. They are very well made, nice looking materials, good ventilation, good grip. Fit is not particularly roomy and ride isn't super soft, contrary to many expert reviews. They are mine now, so I'll continue to use them at least as a change up from the Speeds

 Details-  FIT- I wear 10.5 in Saucony, and sometimes those are too short or narrow. In general my length is in between a 10 and a 10.5

So with that disclosure out of the way, let's talk about the asics novoblast 2.: first, let's go over some specs. The novoblast 2 has 30 millimeters of ff blast, midsole foam in the heel, and this year it has an eight millimeter drop, a little bit different from last year's 10 millimeter drop

 It gets to be a little bit less breathable, but again, there's a little bit more structure and control in this midfield cage. So you can get some lockdown on the laces a lightly padded tongue and then a moderate amount of padding, almost kind of a heavy amount of padding for a daily trainer, but overall, a very comfortable amount of foam back here. And that foam is covering a very structured and a very rigid and substantial heel cup, something that's pretty common. Almost a signature feature of a lot of asic's shoes is that structure in that heel cup

I don't have an exact figure from asics for some reason, but from the other sources that i've been looking at

 But what it means is that there's 22 millimeters of stack height in the forefoot a little bit more than there was last year on the outsole we have ahar plus, which is an iteration of their traditional ahar rubber outsole formula. Up top, we have a double jacquard mesh, which is super soft, almost feels like a knit material up here and then moving towards the midfield cage. It gets to be a little bit less breathable, but again, there's a little bit more structure and control in this midfield cage. So you can get some lockdown on the laces a lightly padded tongue and then a moderate amount of padding, almost kind of a heavy amount of padding for a daily trainer, but overall, a very comfortable amount of foam back here

Novablast 2 - After 100 Miles

Key changes from the OG Novablast: different shaped upper, different midsole cutouts, lower drop (10mm to 8mm)

* The shape of the upper was vastly improved (at least for me), and lacing it up no longer required me to wrestle against my laces to get the lock-down I wanted.

Post-Mortem: This isn't your parents' ASICS. The Novablast 1 retired after 665 km of Flytefoam Blast fun - and because I couldn't get enough, their replacement, the Novablast 2 out for a run in this early spring slush after a late snow. Quick review and initial thoughts in the comments.

 But thanks to my local shopkeeper, I think we got the Sizing right after a few fit tests. I have selected and am wearing US 9 on these pair of shoes. For those seeking comparisons, here is what I wear:

US 9 on these pair were the most comfortable for me. They fit ok, secure, but not too snug. I got the standard D width, so I can't help those who have a wide foot. In comparisons with the Asics, the Asics feel tighter in the midfoot area

 Padded and comfortable. Creates a nice lock down fit the fit for me was absolutely fine. I didn't have any issues whilst running it, but what i would say is it does feel slightly large. I know kieran mentions this as well and i would say that it probably is worth going down half a size in the nova blast 2

 Basically, it makes your easy runs a little bit easier and also it's the country i really like pulling on for things like recovery runs when you are a bit knackered. Basically, i look on a 12 mile midweek longer run the day after a tough session, where i'd really um smash my legs up using a very low profile, carbon shoe on the road for like kind of a 10 mile session, and i had to do my 12 Mile, you know midweek run nice and easy at 7am the next day and pulled on the nose last two and just made me feel a little bit better about getting out the door early and just knowing that i had quite a long run just to tick over. Through and it just made it a little bit more comfortable, a little bit more enjoyable, and that was really where i think the sweet spot for the shoe was it can handle long short, easy runs anything like that and just makes them yeah a bit more fun. This actually so i did use the first nova blast fairly sparingly

 You can do kind of tempo running some faster stuff. I just think there's a lot better options for that, and i really prefer using this purely as an easy day shoe so for my run, testing i've done various different runs, though i have done more at a slightly slower pace, rather than a faster clip. Only little bits of sort of faster intervals, i've not really done a kind of consistent sort of 10 miler kind of like a marathon pace or faster. For me really here with the nova blast 2, it feels exactly the same sort of as an overblast one mice

 Overall, then this is kind of like an okay shoe. I know some people really really rave about the squish and response and find it really punchy. Exciting kind of lively run i just find it a little bit deadening actually for me and any all of that liveliness, i sort of find is taken away by the fact that it's not particularly kind of stable and there's just quite a heavy shoe going on here. I you know, i know that nick kind of probably loves this shoe, we've spoken about it and he he really enjoys the kind of the overall cushioning and response that you're getting from it

Those with normal to narrow width feet will enjoy the very secure fit.”

 It's one of the more popular stability running shoes in the Brooks range and it provides stability using guide rails. They sit at each side of the shoe, you can see them there and they act a little bit like the bumpers at a bowling alley and that means that if your foot doesn't really roll at all when it's landing then the guide rails are not going to get in the way of the way that you run but if it does roll one way or the other the guide rails are going to kind of prevent that from happening somewhat and this is particularly what Brooks say, it's particularly important to try to avoid knee injuries. Now the other stability feature that I always mention is the heel counter. It's a pretty solid heel counter in this shoe, mainly internal but there's a little bit of external element to it there as well and you'll find that in stability shoes it's going to keep the heel locked into the shoe and it does that really well on this shoe

There is this other thing here which is new on the 21, I don't know if you can see that but I'm not really sure of the purpose, whether that's adding any, it's a bit squishy, whether that's adding, it's on both sides, whether that's adding any more stability I'm not really sure, I'm not really sure what it's for at all actually to be honest but there you go. Now the midsole on this, they have changed it in this model, they have used their DNA loft midsole all the way through from heel to toe and they say that that helps with the whole transition

 A quick mention to the weight of the shoe, now this is not trying to be a lightweight shoe, most stability shoes aren't. They have managed though to knock a few grams off of the weight compared to the previous version of this shoe. Up on the screen now what my size weighs, now I'm a UK size 11 so just bear that in mind and as I say yeah not lightweight by any means but at least they have reduced the weight slightly from what it was last year. Now the GTS stands for go to shoe and Brooks are basically saying you can wear this shoe for any of your runs so you could wear it yes for shorter runs for the 5k park runs for your 10k's but for me this shoe works best for half marathon distance or above or and whether you're doing a race at that distance or just your long runs

I haven't run for exercise in about 5 years, and my only pair of shoes are a totally beaten up pair of New Balance that I probably got from like...Payless, like 10 years ago.  


I quit running because I have a click in my ankle that gets inflamed after about 3 miles, but I've come to understand that's because of tight/weak calves, weak ankles, and underactive glutes, so I'm working on that. I have a pretty pronounced pronation and heel strike which I'm working on as well, but could use some shoes with arch support.  


I don't need anything geared toward super long runs, as right now I'm not even sure I could finish a 5k without walking. Ideally I'd be able to find some women's shoes, but I have really big feet (11/11.5 in women's) and would take a 9.5/10 in men's.   


Any reccommendations would be much appreciated!

 This is just the first color that/\s/we have but come November 1st on our website/\s/ online. you'll be able to find this shoe in a/\s/variety of different flavors that kind of fits/\s/ your need and again this is. this is going to be/\s/one of those years where you can get a bunch of/\s/ stuff and then moving forward.
