 You do get a kind of nice, snug, very locked down fit with these kind of laces. I think you're going to get a secure fit this tongue is nice and kind of thin and that will kind of sit quite nicely on top of your um top of your foot in terms of the hill collar. There'S not a lot of material going around here, which you know might worry some people and kind of something i was concerned about. But if you look inside, asics has put this kind of cushioning inside or padding really

 You are going to get something firmer here in comparison to what you're going to get from the the meta speed and i think, from other kind of daily kind of speedy, daily trainers around this price. But crucially, it does feel nice and responsive, especially when you're going at your kind of quickest pace. I found um you get that nice, quick snappy, feel in it and obviously you've got this half length, uh carbon fiber plate and this um. This curved silhouette

 So if you've got wider feet, i think you know maybe survey your kind of size options there. You may want to look um kind of going up size, but ultimately, i think you're still going to get quite a narrow and kind of fitting shoe um. It'S really nice and light. I really like that about it

So I have my first marahon coming in October. I have been running consistently for the last 3 years and on/off before that, currently between 50-60km/week (\~35miles/week). I have experienced several running shoes brands before (Nike pegs 35/36/37, Adidas, Decathlon, Asics...).

My current rotation is:

\- Pegasus 37: Too narrow for my feet, I use them only for short distance as they cause pain almost every time. However I'm supposed to have a "normal wide feet" based on the table in the wiki... I also experience a bit of heel slipping. So definitely not suitable for marathon.

\- NB 1080V10: Based on the experience of the Pegs 37, I chose the "medium" (not extra large) width... but they are a bit to wide. Still comfy, but also too slow for marathon.

\- Nike Fly Zoom 3: I originally used them only for speed workouts, but given the situation with both other shoes, I tried them for some long runs at marathon pace (up to 25km, 15miles), and it went ok, even if they started to feel a bit heavy on the last kms of the runs.

First marathon running shoes

 This shoe's coming in at 150. It'S got the carbon fiber plate a lot of value squeezed into a lot of performance, so a lot to talk about with the shoe first, let's dive on into the midsole we've got full length flight foam blast, we've seen flight foam blast in a lot of basic Shoes, this is going to be the first one in a racing flat. It'S soft, it's responsive, it's not maybe going to be quite as soft as the metaspeed sky, but still a very unique underfoot experience now. Also, when we're comparing it with the meta speed sky, it is going to be just a little bit lower

 I think you're gon na get better durability. Out of this shoe than maybe what you see in the meta speed sky, it is going to come at the cost of a little extra weight. But i think when you're pounding out workouts, the outsole here in this shoe is going to be phenomenal. Finishing the shoe off we've got a simple and breathable mesh design

 It'S got a nice snug midfoot, it's got a fairly snug toe box. I'D say the meta speed sky had a little bit more room, but overall there was still a little bit room for your toes display, but it's going to be a snug performance fit in the heel. We'Ve got a little bit of a counter, it's a little stiff, but the shoe has pretty minimal materials in the upper it's built to be light coming in at 7.9 ounces again, this is going to be a lightweight racing flat

 Now, next one up: let's talk about the carbon fiber plate, it works seamlessly with that flight foam blast midsole to create a highly efficient ride in it is worth noting the plate is going to run through the forefoot into the mid foot. So it's not full length not going to be maybe quite as rigid as what we saw in the meta, speed sky, but again still a very seamless transition. It'S got that guide sole technology for a very smooth ride. Overall, the midsole feels really good on the shoe and again at 150 dollars when i compare it to some of the other plated shoes on the market from other brands

Let's clear the most pressing thing most people in this sub would be concerned about: **SIZE & FIT.**

Novablasts 2 &amp; Novablast 1 Comparison &amp; Initial Thoughts (with Pics &amp; after 4 mile / 6.5km)

 Asics uppers tend to be, in my opinion, really overbuilt. I don't know if it's a design thing or what, but it just always seems like there's a lot of layers that i don't really think that they need for a lot of their uppers and this one seemed really stripped down. Not even a lot of overlays. On this shoe either i felt like it was going to be fantastic for me, i thought that it was going to be like some of the racing shoes that i've been running in from asics, which i've been really loving, the way that those fit, but i felt Like this was just a little bit too snug, i felt like it was jamming on, like my pinky toe and the next toe over just a little bit too much, and it just really didn't loosen up even getting the shoe wet

 Having grip or feeling like that, i was going to slip at all so like no concerns felt very confident getting into some of the slippery stuff. So i think that this material is going to work well, i think that they kind of could have been a little bit more aggressive in terms of what they shaved off in terms of this asic script, because after all, this is supposed to be kind of, like Your fast trainer, slash racer, so i feel like the asic script. That'S on here seems to be more of a concession towards durability than it is a nod towards speed. So i wish that they would have done a little bit more just to take some of it out

 I don't know how many like tenths of an ounce, if any that would have shaved off, but it just it feels like there's a lot here and that we don't really need it, and i just think overall, it's just a touch on the heavy side. At 7.9. Ounces now another part of this shoe is that it has asic's guide sole technology, which is what it's calling basically like

 As far as the outsole goes, the a6 grip works fantastically well. I got it through a lot of water and on some very slippery concrete, had no problems either. Having grip or feeling like that, i was going to slip at all so like no concerns felt very confident getting into some of the slippery stuff. ASICS Magic Speed - First Run

Basically, the sizing of the Adidas confuses me. These shoes aren't available in local running stores, so sadly have to "blind buy". The only one I have concerns with sizing is the Adidas, the other Im confident they wont tear my feet to shreds!!

*Wildcard - Adidas Adizero Pro(Can probably get this one the cheapest) (not the adios). Sizing seems to be abit iffy on this, UK 9 on the Adidas site says 26.7cm - and a uk 10 = 27.6

As Im not willing to pay the £200+ for the Nikes/New Balance/Saucony's of the world, Ive narrowed it down to the 3 "reasonably" priced Carbon plated shoes.

The Salomon Speedcross 5 has long been known for its insanely aggressive outsole, a feature that forced almost every competing shoe brand to imitate it. Salomon has improved this by making the rubber on the sole even stickier so that it acts like glue to rock &mdash; even wet rock. They also significantly widened the forefoot of this notoriously narrow shoe by a significant margin, which increased both comfort and wearability for those with wider feet. This change also improved from past versions by adding a larger landing platform. In addition to making the arrow-shaped lugs larger and farther apart for easier mud shedding and increasing the durability of the already beefy upper, these changes make this the best version of the Speedcross in at least the last six years. The shoe still fits like a glove, with the foot securely locked in place with Salomon's quick lace system; it feels supremely comfortable right out of the box. We've been running in these shoes for more than eight years now and saw our love for them diminish as they got narrower and tighter as time went on. However, this newest version has won us back over.
We once again love to run in this shoe, but it still has some features that seem a bit outdated. Our biggest gripe is the 10 mm heel-to-toe drop, combined with the thick and high-off-the-ground heel counter. It's not only unstable, especially when running downhill, but a bit of a relic of a bygone era in shoe design. These days it's also pretty heavy on the spectrum of ever-lighter trail shoes. It also retains its reputation for running a bit warm and short on breathability, which means these shoes are better used for higher altitude mountain runs where the air is cool. While many other companies have put serious effort into improving the traction on their shoes, our side-by-side testing shows that the Speedcross 5 simply grips the best. If you enjoy running off-trail or in the mountains where the ground is often wet, snowy, muddy, rocky, and steep, this is an ideal choice, with traction unrivaled by any other shoe.

Switchback Travel

The Speedgoat above is a nicely cushioned go-to for well-established trail networks, but it suffers on particularly soft terrain like mud and snow. In these conditions, you’ll want a full rubber outsole (the Speedgoat uses a combination of rubber and foam) with relatively long and widely spaced lugs that bite into the ground with each step. Salomon’s trail-eating Speedcross 5 sets the standard for this category, combining massive 6-millimeter arrow-shaped lugs and a supportive and snug-fitting upper for impressive control at speed. Tack on a thick midsole, single-pull lace system, and sturdy yet still reasonably light chassis, and you get one of the most capable trail designs, whether your run takes you over snow, sand, or wet leaves and thick mud.

But while the Speedcross is hard to beat on soft terrain, it’s not a particularly versatile shoe. The tooth-like lugs and aggressive build are overkill on easy trails and gravel roads, and the tall stack height can feel tippy on uneven ground (plus, shorter lugs offer better traction on rock). For off-trail exploration, we’d recommend a more planted, rock-ready design like the Sense Ride above or Bushido below. But for wet and rugged forest paths, the Speedcross is incredibly purpose-built, even down to details like the anti-debris mesh upper and gusseted tongue.
