The Arbor Westmark Camber Snowboard is Arbor's freestyle board, and it's ideal for people that want to do tricks on a wooden plank throughout the park. This board is also good for intermediates who want an all-mountain board but want to spend more time in the park. The Westmark also comes in a rocker shape, but this camber board will be better for higher speeds and holding an edge than its rocker counterpart.
Key Features:
- Blunted Tips – The blunted tips of the board reduce swing weight, so the board is slightly easier to turn while still providing enough area for floating in snow. Additionally, the blunted tips make butters and other ground tricks much easier.

 Yo what up guys TJ here out snowboarding at Woodward Copper out at their summer camp for week 7 and today I'm checking out the Arbor Westmark Camber the Frank April edition. Alright guys so the Westmark Camber is a true twin freestyle leaning snowboard although it could be pretty solid for like all-mountain freestyle as well. It's a positive camber snowboard from contact point to contact point for the entire length of the snowboard and it also runs a mid flex I'd say right around a 5 out of 10 pretty solid middle-of-the-road flex on this guy. The Westmark Camber is a really versatile snowboard and there's a few pieces of tech that Arbor threw in this guy that I really like a lot so on all their camber boards they run the camber system is what they call it so full camber and right underneath the contact points so the widest point in the snowboard on the nose and the tail they have what they call uprise fenders so the base and the edge is actually lifted up just a little bit helping to make it a little more catch-free even though you're gonna have that really powerful precise feeling that camber offers

 Sure. Especially half hyper jumps, you want that camber because you need to dig on that edge. Yeah. And it's like they're both pretty catch free

 You know, nobody's perfect and, you know, it's like somebody said to me what, like, you know, I was talking about shock absorption of a binding and they said, well, why would you want to land flat? Nobody fucking wants to land flat, but sometimes you do. I just did. Every, like, no matter how good of a rider you are, you're going to land flat sometimes. So like on the rocker, if you're going to land off, you're just not going to have that tail to help you out of it

 And the Westmark just handled it like an all-mountain freestyle board. So it's really like, what would I call this? I call this a freestyle board. But I would say it's a freestyle board that could double as an all-mountain rider, because it's got a pretty stiff flex, and it's not very chattery. It's not chattery

 Personally, I own a Harbor Westmark reverse camber and I rode it all the time in powder. Powder, it's excellent. But like you said here- You rode the rocker, right? I went with rocker. Yeah

Arbor Westmark Camber Review

 So what you have is parabolic camber, so it's less camber out in the tips or kind of similar to traditional camber with Uprise Fenders. A 3D shape that raises the contact points, that way you get more of a surfy feel out at the tips. Then you have Grip Tech underfoot, which is an added contact point, so you can steer the board right underfoot instead of out at the contact points. So basically, traditional camber with an added contact point underfoot and raised contact points out at the tip and the tail

 So the Westmark camber is one of those park boards that's just a hair below middle of the road flex for park. What that means is you get more play out in the tip and the tail, and then it stiffens back up through the center. You're going to notice an okay amount of torsional flex, so you'll really be able to twist the board. But yeah, this is a board that is versatile enough to be a quiver of one freestyle board that you can take around the mountain due to the flex pattern in it and the stability that it offers

So with this board having more traditional camber in it with Arbor's camber system, you can really load it up and get pop. If you've been coming off of the reverse camber version of this or the rocker version, you can still be late and lazy with your snap on it

 It's just, it's a park board. It's not designed for railing full-blown Euro carves 24-7. The occasional one, yeah, it's got you covered, so you don't really have to worry about it too much. So who's this board for? This is a board that's designed for the park guy that's going to go cruise the whole mountain when he needs to

 Today I've got the Arbor Westmark Camber Edition. It's the Frank April Pro model. This thing's pre-rides, full camber profile on it. Comes with Arbor's proprietary grip tech edges

 Fantastic for digging into the hardback like today. Fantastic camber board if you're really into the more aggressive profile boards. I'd say it's about probably six out of ten flex, maybe even a little stiffer. It's got blunted nose and tail, which is great for if you get into some of the softer snow, which I found a little couple pockets

Went with a 162 Burton Flight Attendant for more big mountain feel. It’s awesome in powder, but the reality is east coast riding just didn’t really accommodate those conditions all that well, and while it rides like traditional camber on groomers it was so stiff and with the extended nose was hard to maneuver around crowded areas and sucked at holding an edge in more hard/icy conditions - so switching back to a new Custom 158 for this season to split the difference. They now have a slight setback and edge technology.

Shopping around for a new board for the first time in coming up on 2 decades and trying to get some feedback. I’m an advanced rider, get down just about anything without issue. Really only avoid EX terrain type stuff. Just don’t have the stones to hit gnarly chutes or drop off cliffs with 2 young kids to take care of. Don’t ride park, but hit the occasional side hit or log if the line looks good. Like steeps, trees and technical terrain that requires planning a line and executing. Currently ride a very old Burton Custom 152 

Most of my riding will be mostly on the east coast, with trips to other places as my schedule allows. I’m 5’8” @ 150-160lbs and wear an 8.5 size boot. 

I’d been eyeing the Burton Instigator 155, Ride Warpig 148 and Lib Tech Orca 147 as boards that seemed well regarded and fit my rider profile. Any other boards I’m overlooking? If I can’t make a decision I’ll demo something, but I’m in WNY so not a ton of ski shops and demo choices when the season rolls around.

What board would you buy if you were me?

 For reference guys I weigh around 150 pounds I rode this board in a 156 and I felt the flex to be a little bit on the stiffer side and medium and a little bit of a directional flex as well which is a common feel in these boards that have these directional features particularly that shorter tail there's just not as much board to flex in the tail so it feels a little bit stiffer but that's going to come through with some nice stability when you are in those higher impact scenarios or carving at higher speeds like we were just talking about. With that being said this isn't a very buttery snowboard it's got that feel to it when you're trying to get that flex where it's kind of fighting back it's not going to make it easy on you to get those taller presses or those butter tricks going you're gonna have to be pretty on point with it but on the flip side you can get a lot of pop and energy out of this snowboard pretty much any energy you're putting in to get that flex going it's going to give right back to you so I'd say definitely some solid pop out of the flight attendant. I did take this board through a couple park laps out of A51 and I'd say it is a little bit more jump leaning when it comes to actually riding in the terrain park can absolutely still hit rails with it but it's a little bit stiff it's the kind of board where if you get out over the nose or tail it's going to hang on really well it's not going to flex out on you but the main thing I want to highlight is the stability that you're going to find on jumps so if you are out there trying to hit the park on this board you're going to be able to hit those larger features confidently and know that this board is going to have this ability to back you up out there. It's still going to be a good time for some afternoon park laps if that's something you find yourself out there doing but I'd be focused more on looking for natural features and drops and doing that type of freestyle riding on this board more so than like proper park laps

 Alright guys, the Flight Attendant is going to be a more all-mountain free ride focused kind of board on the Burton lineup. It runs an overall directional shape so outside these front contact points here you're going to have a longer nose than tail and it also has some other directional features built into it as well. So you are going to find a directional camber profile on this snowboard and it's like a shifted camber. It runs positive camber from that rear contact point going all the way out to just about outside your front foot

 We're going to get a rockered release out into the nose. Overall it's going to have that camber dominant feel, that more precise, powerful, energetic feel that you get out of the camber but has that rocker in the nose to help you out if you do take this board into powder and also help give you a little bit easier turn initiation. One cool thing about this type of camber profile is that when you're on hard pack or any situation where you're creating tension in the snowboard, waiting that camber is going to actually help that rockered nose rise up a little bit more to help give you a little bit more benefit in that powder and that soft snow. So this board does have a taper and a setback, a 10 millimeter taper so that tail is narrower than the nose as well as a 35 millimeter setback

 This is the type of board that you can carve pretty fast on you can get it up to speed confidently you're not going to get a bunch of chatter in it it's going to have a nice stable in control feel for you. It's not crazy aggressive but I did get this board going pretty fast and it felt very comfortable it definitely has a stability to back up that type of riding that more intense kind of carving.  Alright guys just got done chasing Kevin through a nice little powder run and I gotta say the flight attendant was holding up really well. This is the type of snowboard that you can really charge through some powder with just keeping your weight centered focusing on making those turns and not having to focus on shifting your weight back to keep the nose afloat. This guy is going to float really well in powder for you and there's a few pieces in the construction that are going to make that happen. So first off it has a shifted camber

 So camber running from the front insert pack down all the way to the tail with a rockered nose. It's also going to have a 10 millimeter taper so just a little bit of a skinnier tail the nose also helping drop that back into the snowboard and powder help and keep that nose up but the stance is actually centered within the side cut so on hard pack this guy is actually going to ride and feel more like a true twin even though it does have all those directional capabilities. It also has a directional flex so a little bit stiffer in the tail than in the nose giving you a little bit more power and response when you're driving those turns and powder doing more tactical lines or hitting drops really any situation where you need more stability in the tail the flight attendant is going to offer that for you. Also having that softer nose is going to make the board a little bit more damp while also making it a little bit more buttery so if you want to lay out some butters on the nose you're able to do that on the flight attendant as well
