 However, I did find a possible reason for the difficulty other purchasers have reported.  The water supply lines were not cut cleanly nor completely straight. That is not particularly important for the standard compression fittings, but the filter unit has push-on fittings that require that the tubing is inserted completely. Because the supply line tubing cuts had small burrs and were not straight it was not possible to insert the tubing fully into the tubing connections on the filter unit

  For Aquasana: Please tighten your quality control on the supply line tubing cutter. It will avoid a lot of grief.

Gaskets may need adjusting out of box

 The filter had a slow leak around the filter cartridge, causing a drip. A trip to the hardware store for new rubber O rings solved the problem for a dollar. An easy fix, but one I shouldn't have had to make. Plus, if I hadn't been paying attention that little drip could have destroyed my kitchen cabinet, flooring, etc

. Bigger problem was with the O rings in the filter unit. The filter had a slow leak around the filter cartridge, causing a drip. A trip to the hardware store for new rubber O rings solved the problem for a dollar

Good Unit with a few issues.

We have been using the system for two years - it was ok, but it cracked and was leaking badly when water pressure went up - better to keep the water pressure low - otherwise, it is fine. Better to replace the filters and the system altogether to avoid problems.

 I'm used to my old 2-stage filter, it filled the bottle quickly (it had 3/8 inch supply tubing but I had to replace it after 20 years, the sump cracked and the replacement part is no longer available). Oh well, I will just have to learn patience.

The water filter was fairly straight forward to install, however; I thought it was 3/8" supply tubing but it turned out it has only a 1/4" supply tubing. I have 50PSI water pressure (which is over the minimum inlet pressure of 40 PSI), it still takes about three minutes to fill a half gallon bottle.    When you decide you want to replace the filter, just buy an entirely new system (although it does come with a small syringe pump to backwash the filter at home).  It costs the same as a replacement filter for the pump models.  Also, there are no moving parts.  You can't really break it unless you crack it

  I always wipe my bag down after attaching the filter to keep things as clean as possible.  But face it, no system is completely void of possible contamination. 

  Always have a backup plan or some ingenuity when using this filter.  Don't bring only 1 container that will attach to the filter, because, unless you're crafty, you won't be able to get clean water if your only bag/bottle breaks.

What a cool little filter.  It takes up no space in your backpack, weighs next to nothing, and has the best actual filter in its class.  I have only used this filter for 1 summer season, and am ready to bust it out again soon.

I took this filter on 1800 miles of the AT.  The bags failed in the first week.  I replaced them with 1.25 liter plastic soda bottles

I do a lot of backpacking and I was using a Sawyer Mini. I am so glad I bought this Squeeze, the flow rate compared to the mini is nigh and day. If you use your filter a lot like I do, get one of these, it has really cut down on the time I spend filtering water.

Great product

 The gallon bag (sold separately) has a wide inlet making it relatively easy to fill. Whichever bag you choose, I recommend having a small cup of some kind to help fill the bags (don't drink out of the cup). This is especially important if your water source is a small stream because you won't be able to submerge the bags, and it will be difficult to collect significant amounts of water at one time.  On a final note, be aware that viruses and chemicals are small enough to pass through the filter

 Instead, I purchased Sawyer's gallon bag and used the tubing/attachments to connect it to the filter unit. Using some rope or cord I could hang up the bag and gravity filter a gallon of water at a time into my water bladder. The water flow is decent considering that the water is passing through a microscopic filter, but the pressure is low enough that closing the outlet cap of the filter stops the flow of water.  Others in my group used the 32 oz bags and found them somewhat difficult to fill, which is why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5

Easy Water Filtration

These products are light, a virtual "forever" shelf life, and by far are the best for your money!

Why?..because the Sawyer filters about 10- 50 times as much water(depending on which model you purchase) than the Life Straw.
