It comes bundled with a set of eco-friendly biodegradable paper bags, but if you want to further improve its filtration performance, you could spring for aftermarket cloth bags; the Airsign uses a pretty common 2.5 L sizing.

It also has a rather short power cord, so you'll probably need to swap outlets when cleaning larger rooms. If that's a problem, you could consider the Miele Classic C1 PowerLine Pure Suction, though be aware that it doesn't come bundled with a HEPA-rated post-motor filter.

I researched the heck out of this purchase, I was trying to decide between a low end Miele and a SEBO, when I kept running into references to the Henry. The Numatic Henry Compact HVR160 would be my suggestion as well, which is a semi-commercial canister made in the UK that's perfectly suited for hard floors and area rugs. They're among the most powerful non-central vacuums out there, so it'll basically be like a significantly less bulky and better filtering version of your shop vac. I think it'd be worth getting an attachment like this that you can easily lift up for large debris as well.

Hi vacuum enthusiasts! We live in a small farm in the mountains and I've had a heck of a time finding a vacuum that can adequately deal with the debris in our home. We have dogs and cats and live on a dusty red clay hillside that inevitably makes daily vacuuming or sweeping necessary. We've tried a few home vacuums to no avail, returning them once it is apparent that they can't handle the job. We have had success with a high powered shop vacuum but the filter is awful and dusts everything slightly as it works which is a serious bummer. Are there any vacuums that can handle a job like this? We have no wall to wall carpeting, just wood floors and some area rugs. If I was more prepared I'd share a pic of the daily pile I sweep up, usually small pebbles lots of clay dust, dog hair, small twigs and dirt... we work from home and have a very industrious kitchen and living space so removal of shoes every time we come in is not an option. Teying to solve this with the right vacuum, not a change in lifestyle. Thanks for reading and considering and input and everything!

question for vacuum people

So far it is working okay but I have concerns if this is a brand new product or not. The box was definitely old, unsealed and in bad condition. And the wheels look like they have some wear already.

For your floor type and apartment size i’d say the over budget CDN$335 Numatic James or CDN$399 Henry HVR160 are a great buy. Great filtration, reliable, built tough and the face! But the Miele would also be a great option too!

Hi all, looking for a vacuum for a smallish house (\~1200 sqft) in Canada. Mostly laminate floors, but two rooms of low-pile carpet. Was initially looking at stick vacuums for the sake of saving space, as we don't have tons of storage in the house and I'd like to maximize available space. I'll also be more inclined to use something more frequently that doesn't take lugging out of closet. No pets, but lots of long hair.

Initially looked at the Shark ZS360C as I found the duoclean idea compelling as well as the non-traditional "self cleaning" brushroll (again, lots of long hair and I abhor trying to cut hair off a traditional roller), but reviews talked about plastic gears stripping (despite 4.6 stars on Amazon and elsewhere). I've used a Dyson (I think it was a V7?) and I was frankly not impressed with the build quality either.

That said, while I'd like to buy something with longevity, I also unsurprisingly have a budget I'd like to stick to, probably around $300CAD or less. Obviously there are tradeoffs but I'm not sure where to compromise.

I'm not against the Shark I found ($228), but it seems to be a somewhat gimmicky manufacturer if posts in this subreddit are any indication. Not a vacuum enthusiast or professional cleaner though, so just looking for something that will do the job in such a way that I won't think about the vacuum often.

Looking for slim vacuum cleaner for laminate and low carpet (Canada)

First impressions are good. Suction is good, pretty compact but not small, cord works well, its heavier then it looks but manageable, useful tools, and price wise I think it's worth it (paid$340 w/tax) although a lower price point would make it a much better buy. Tools friction fit together, hose is long enough and flexible, floortool is good on hardwood but takes more effort on rugs, I think it's relatively quiet with no high pitched whistle, and it rolls around easy. These are just my initial impressions, will update if warranted

Miele, Numatic, and SEBO all have great options, but I'll narrow it down. This $300 Numatic Henry Compact is probably the best value canister on the market at the moment. Simple design, commercial-grade construction, and some of the most cost-effective HEPA bags you can buy.

It’s for my 50 year old mother so must be easy to use. Has to be corded rather than battery powered.

In that case, I'd say to get a $330 Henry HVR160 with a $45 Wessel Werk TK286 turbine. The UK-made Henry canisters basically trade off the fancy features of the Miele (suction control and cord rewind) for a simpler and more robust design, plus a much better cord and hose length versus a comparably priced Miele. https://www.wayfair

My current vacuum (a $40 dirt devil) was great for apartment living, it is fantastic for hard floors and anything that requires an attachment but it destroys my plush rugs and can’t go under furniture, so it’s time to upgrade.

I have a one story house that is 1700sqft of mostly hardwood and tile with a few plush area rugs.  My budget is ideally $400, but for a true BIFL purchase that fits my needs I’ll spend whatever it takes. 

I’ve seen a few Miele’s on eBay going for reasonable prices, is that a good place to get a vacuum? I live near a vacuum repair shop so I’m not too worried about issues that come with an open box or pre-owned product (unless there are specific issues to be aware of there). 

A cordless vac is very tempting, but my home gets very dusty and I don’t want to spend $300+ on something that will only last a few years.  Are there any that are reliable and can be easily repaired?  I can deal with battery replacements if the mechanics are reliable.
