Especially on this x-pac version, I would expect this more so than the normal version. The front zipper uses YKK aquaguard with a bit of reflective material on the pull tab, which uses aer's minimalistic design. the front is very slim and fits flatter things like your keys.

 When I saw the City Sling release in x-pac material though, I new I had to go for it. Initial impressions are that it’s a very compact and organized.

 For a small sling, I’ve just bought the AER City Sling 2. Reasonable price from A UK stockist. It’s small, hugs the body and looks classy.

I have a bunch of backpacks, and a couple of briefcase-style bags/satchels, and a smaller messenger bag.  I'd like something to replace the old messenger bag, and I'm pretty set on a sling bag. 

I've read a pile of reviews, looking at things like the Fjallraven Greenland Pocket, the Bellroy City Pouch Plus, and the Are Day Sling Max.  

What I can't quite visualise is the size of these things; I really want something that can be small and compact, close to me for when I'm out on holiday just carrying wallet, phone etc, but maybe with space for expanding when I'm carrying more.  

Most I would generally carry would be AirPods Max and a Nintendo Switch in a small case; I could probably still use the messenger bag I have if I needed to carry a tablet or laptop.

Any recommendations?  I look at some and with photos of them with a phone in them, I worry that AirPods Max in their charging case wouldn't fit.

Sling Bag Recommendations

The material is what swung the decision for me. Hearing the CPL is a dust and fur magnet with two dogs in the house is what was the deciding factor. I’m a big fan of X-Pac after getting my Aer City Sling.

I bought both of these bags during Black Friday and both seem great and have seemingly minor differences, which makes it even harder to pick one! Can anyone who has experience with either of these two bags want to give their input?  

I am looking for a bag for business travel as well as backpacking style leisure travel (casual Euro trips in hostels). A few things that have come up for me when trying on each of these bags:

* Able Carry Max has a "work compartment". Do business travelers actually use these? This doesn't seem entirely necessary if my work lives entirely on my laptop

* How is the waterproofing for these bags? 
    * The Max uses X-Pac which seems waterproof, but a few reddit posts say this material wears down quickly. 

    * The CPL28 says it uses waterproofing nylon. Has anyone gotten caught in the rain with their CPL and found it dry on the inside afterwards?
 
* Do these bags fit under an airplane seat comfortably when fully packed? The Max has less form, so it gets rounder and rounder when full, whereas the CPL keeps its square shape.


* The CPL doesn't have anywhere to put security locks on its zippers (I guess you can put a lock around the fabric loops tied to the zippers?). However I don't know how useful this feature actually is as i've never been accosted while traveling before

* How do you carry water with you while traveling? The Max has a built in water bottle holder which double as an additional pocket, but also takes up space internally if it holds a water bottle. The CPL doesn't have that, but supports a camelbak-style reservoir. What do casual travelers prefer?

Help me narrow it down - Able Carry Max vs CPL28

 The interior liner—and this applies to all the compartments—is a fairly bright grey for good visibility. Weather protection remains great for the most part, with twin reverse-coil YKK zippers keeping the elements at bay. 

Such is the case of the subject of this review: the City Sling 2. It’s grown in size, slimmed down its strap, got a shiny new Fidlock magnet, and is now more comfortable to wear. We think the improvements make this a better sling overall, and Aer’s even given it pouch-like capabilities. There’s actually a lot to go through, as we’ll be making some comparisons with the original City Sling

The City Sling 2 shares most of its DNA with the rest of Aer’s lineup, both in terms of aesthetic and material. We’ve flipped through this sling inside and out, and there’s no denying that Aer has kept their magic—this is one solid-feeling sling. The way they’ve put together 1680D CORDURA Ballistic Nylon and YKK zippers makes the whole sling feel very structured. Even when empty, it doesn’t collapse like a wet paper bag

Our biggest takeaway from the City Sling 2 is how well Aer addressed all of the cons of the original City Sling. It wears comfortably, the zippers aren’t jingly, and the elastic strap keepers are a welcome addition. Noteworthy changes like these are what we like to see. We like the original City Sling, and the City Sling 2 just makes us like it even more

 I’m 5 foot 6 inches with wide shoulders and this looks ridiculous as a backpack because it barely goes to mid back. My fault for getting the small! I figured the backpack would be small but the straps a little longer. Adjustable straps would be good!
