Especially on this x-pac version, I would expect this more so than the normal version. The front zipper uses YKK aquaguard with a bit of reflective material on the pull tab, which uses aer's minimalistic design. the front is very slim and fits flatter things like your keys.

 When I saw the City Sling release in x-pac material though, I new I had to go for it. Initial impressions are that it’s a very compact and organized.

 For a small sling, I’ve just bought the AER City Sling 2. Reasonable price from A UK stockist. It’s small, hugs the body and looks classy.

I have a bunch of backpacks, and a couple of briefcase-style bags/satchels, and a smaller messenger bag.  I'd like something to replace the old messenger bag, and I'm pretty set on a sling bag. 

I've read a pile of reviews, looking at things like the Fjallraven Greenland Pocket, the Bellroy City Pouch Plus, and the Are Day Sling Max.  

What I can't quite visualise is the size of these things; I really want something that can be small and compact, close to me for when I'm out on holiday just carrying wallet, phone etc, but maybe with space for expanding when I'm carrying more.  

Most I would generally carry would be AirPods Max and a Nintendo Switch in a small case; I could probably still use the messenger bag I have if I needed to carry a tablet or laptop.

Any recommendations?  I look at some and with photos of them with a phone in them, I worry that AirPods Max in their charging case wouldn't fit.

Sling Bag Recommendations

The material is what swung the decision for me. Hearing the CPL is a dust and fur magnet with two dogs in the house is what was the deciding factor. I’m a big fan of X-Pac after getting my Aer City Sling.

I bought both of these bags during Black Friday and both seem great and have seemingly minor differences, which makes it even harder to pick one! Can anyone who has experience with either of these two bags want to give their input?  

I am looking for a bag for business travel as well as backpacking style leisure travel (casual Euro trips in hostels). A few things that have come up for me when trying on each of these bags:

* Able Carry Max has a "work compartment". Do business travelers actually use these? This doesn't seem entirely necessary if my work lives entirely on my laptop

* How is the waterproofing for these bags? 
    * The Max uses X-Pac which seems waterproof, but a few reddit posts say this material wears down quickly. 

    * The CPL28 says it uses waterproofing nylon. Has anyone gotten caught in the rain with their CPL and found it dry on the inside afterwards?

Help me narrow it down - Able Carry Max vs CPL28

 The interior liner—and this applies to all the compartments—is a fairly bright grey for good visibility. Weather protection remains great for the most part, with twin reverse-coil YKK zippers keeping the elements at bay. 

Such is the case of the subject of this review: the City Sling 2. It’s grown in size, slimmed down its strap, got a shiny new Fidlock magnet, and is now more comfortable to wear. We think the improvements make this a better sling overall, and Aer’s even given it pouch-like capabilities. ONA The Bowery vs. Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 20 vs. Domke F-5XB  I hauled full frame DSLR around Europe for two weeks with an L zoom lens. Captured great images but I swore I'd never lug that amount of weight and bulk again on vacation

 The thing I really didn't like about it was the boxy rectangular shape.  Domke - Looks nice. It was heavier than the Think Tank. Much of the added weight came from the hardware (two gigantic zippers, large strap claps)

"Thumbs Down" Domke F 5XB Camera Bag

 There’s no way this will fit a full sized DLSR. It’s much too thin and short. The wax really brings an offputting touch to the bag that’s uncomfortable, but it’s supposed to help with potential weathering. Still wasn’t a fan of the awkward texture and unethical replacement of that wax meant for certain areas, how are you supposed to know? Also, someone asked how the appearance was prior to purchasing

 The main compartment has a velco opening that seem very childish as well to add to the size issue. Other models have strap locks which I feel is an overall better option. As good as the quality overall is, the size difference was the dealbreaker above all for me. It’s a wonderful bag otherwise if you plan to have a sidebag for your phone

 That has a donkey logo out here, but it is a green military-style bag, 100 % wax cotton canvas is the build on it very nice. It brings this refinishing wax, so you can maintain the nice rugged. Look on it. It has the camera or excuse me, has a shoulder, strap that it hooks on very easily

 I have knocked down a start because it has been vastly annoying. It is more a 3.5 star rating, but I feel it's more of a poor design choice to keep it at 4 stars.

Great small bag

  To sum up, this Domke bag is of the right size and weight for my needs. As to its price, PT Barnum must be laughing in his grave.

Right bag size, but strikingly overpriced

 Following a suggestion from other reviews, I bought loose strips of cloth-backed velcro that I used to cover ~2/3 of the velcro on this bag, and that solved the problem. It's easy to open and close unobtrusively now. I usually leave the zipper mostly open in the middle so that I can take the camera in and out quickly, and the remaining velcro is enough to securely close the bag.  Overall, I love the build quality and design choices that went into this bag

 I removed the Domke logo, which left stitch marks underneath that I mostly covered up with a sewn-on patch (it was fun to be able to customize the look of the bag, so this wasn't much of a negative, although I do wish the logo had come off more cleanly). I think it does still look somewhat like a camera bag because of its shape and padding, but it's much less obvious than many others, and I love the style of it. * The rings securing the strap to the bag are great for attaching a water bottle with a carabiner.  The only real con I can think of is the very loud and excessive velcro

 I didn't even realize that fantastically well-made zippers were a thing until I started using this bag. * The size: I'm short (and female), so I wanted a bag that wouldn't look bulky on me. This bag is perfectly sized for my micro 4/3 camera and sits snugly at my side without feeling bulky or too limited in what it can fit. * The adjustable compartments: it's easy to move the barriers around to customize the compartment sizes

The equipment weighs enough without the bag adding to it. We are frequently out in the 90+ degree FL heat and again no need for anything added to make you sweat that much more.  I agree with the folks that said the outside pocket needs a little help so I'm going to sew a strip of velcro in there to hold my personal items and maybe a pen and paper
