I want something that will have a good bass profile and overall sound quality, no muddy bass or piercing highs, and can hold a stable connection to iPhones/Apple products.

Though it is pricey but outclasses many iems priced much higher than this. The build quality of z1r is impeccable. The only downside is the size. Getting a good fit might be difficult for some and it takes time to adjust and need to push deeper inside of ear to get the best bass and get a smooth treble without getting bright

Orchestral tracks, like the opening scene in John Adams' The Gospel According to the Other Mary, sound phenomenal. You get the richness of the lower register instrumentation and the bright treble edge of the higher register strings, brass, and vocals perfectly complementing each other. The balance here is nearly perfect, with the bass response playing a supporting role without shrinking into the distance—you get a wonderful sense of the space the recording was made in, and ideal clarity throughout the entire frequency range.

The one thing I learnt having owned Sony IEMs (N3, M9, Z1R) is that their build quality is seriously second to none. Anyway, I wanted to venture into high end closed back headphones, and wanted something that would definitely last. Also, I felt that I needed some variety in the character of my headphones, therefore I just pulled the trigger on the MDR-Z1R and prayed for the best (and also because there was a good return policy). Oh boy was I blown away

its just a SHAME! (Look at the pictures) COMFORT: - They are not comfortable at all, you have to find the right Tip for you... the plastic Tip because probably the foam one is already broken

listening sessions in a quiet warm environment and a bottle of wine a must. I still own the UE10 Pro’s, UE11 Pro’s, W80’s, and MDR-Z1R’s. My current sources are Sony TH-ZH1ES, and FiiO Q5 (soon to be upgraded to Q5S)
