SONY IER-Z1R

- Apparently I've been blessing by the audio-gods. I love deep fit. I use Acoustune AET08 L size for almost all my stuff (which isn't much, just Mmk2 and sennheiser MTW2). - For context, the Sony IER-Z1R (with the Acoustunes) fits my ear canals like a GLOVE.

The one thing I learnt having owned Sony IEMs (N3, M9, Z1R) is that their build quality is seriously second to none. Anyway, I wanted to venture into high end closed back headphones, and wanted something that would definitely last. Also, I felt that I needed some variety in the character of my headphones, therefore I just pulled the trigger on the MDR-Z1R and prayed for the best (and also because there was a good return policy). Sony’s recent run of higher end audio geek stuff is well regarded;. - In ears: IER-Z1R, IER-M7 and IER-M9. - Over ears: MDR-Z7M2, WH-1000X series, MDR-1AM2. - Amplifier: TA-ZH1ES.

If 5% of people get a good fit with Z1Rs, then 95% of people will get a great fit with these. They are designed for everyone's ears in a way that not many other IEMs are. This means that you get incredible isolation, and VERY little changing of the sound as you go about activities. If I'm walking to get a coffee, I don't feel every step shift them like I do with some other IEMs.

This is one of the best purchases I ever made from Amazon. The soundstage feels just wide enough for very precise positioning, if a bit narrow. Top-notch comfort & ergonomics here, no fit issues whatsoever. Overall, the Z1R sounds like a fun, enjoyable complement to the smooth, laid-back M9, not a strict upgrade as the steep pricing suggests.

My main focus to get them was based on many reviews stating that these are very nice in their low frequency's.
