So that's it for my gear review on Zildjian's L80 low volume cymbals.

They make cymbals and drum heads for quiet practice. Look into Remo silent stroke heads and Zildjian L80 cymbals and Sabian Quiet tone cymbals. The extra investment might be worth your ears lol.

Only a 3 star because Zildjian refuses to provide a solution for triggering midi. They want more money for a tiny microphone that goes through their DSP device, which then sends a stereo output to your DAW. There is no way to change the sound once it leaves the DSP device, or isolate the cymbal. Tha...

I would recommend zildjian l80’s and Reno silent stroke heads. If your starcleassics are in nice shape you should keep em. I wouldn’t be able to justify selling them.

these things are pretty cool. even though theyre much quieter than regular accoustic cymbals, theyre still a little loud if you really want to practice as quietly as possible. i matched them with my remo silent stroke heads and i feel like the cymbals are still very loud in comparison to the drums. ...

Zildjian L80's and Remo Silentstroke heads are how I cut down on noise with the little one. Sometimes moon gels on resonant heads sound okay and stick for a while, but they are prone to falling off. Vic Firth Chop-Outs made the attack less harsh, and with the combination of all of this I could play in our basement directly under her and not bother her a bit.

I personally don't care for these. I don't think they sound anything like what should be in my music that I am playing. Get some muffling pads, Zildjian L80 (or similar style practice cymbals), a pair of Hot Rods (or similar style drum sticks) &/or a practice pad/set. These are great to use to kill the volume. I use those to practice, shoot music videos, low volume rehearsals/jam sessions.
