 So I skied this in a 168 if you like sort of blue runs and you kind of venture out onto those red runs in resort you know maybe it's the red runs are on the days when the conditions are like today you know beautiful blue sky days and the piece are hard. This is just a great ski as you get better maybe you take a lesson once in a while it's gonna get better with you and it's gonna give you that scope to improve your skiing. So we can see the cap construction here you can see at the tip and the tail the top sheet wraps from edge to edge and comes down over the sidewall and then in the middle of the ski you've got the sort of half sidewall here and that's what gives the ski its kind of strength in in the middle of the turn it gives it its grip so it's a really nice combination for a intermediate skier you know soft compliant turn in but a nice bit of grip in the turn and I even like the color.

I am 95kg - 178cm with strong legs (170kg Squat). I am an intermediate skier skiing in Germany/Switzerland. I am 34 years old father of two and don’t have any interest doing any jumps, moguls or weaving through trees. I ski exclusively lift-access frontside. I enjoy going fast.

It must also be said that I need to be able to go SLOW since I am teaching my 3 year old son to ski.

Is there another ski you would recommend?

Skis for heavy skiers

I started to ski just recently on the east coast, but I’m an experienced cyclist and have strong leg muscles. I started with beginner-intermediate soft skis at ~10cm shorter than my height (volkl deacon xt, 168, 76mm wide) and after a few weeks I realized that they’re completely unstable at higher speeds and also catch into the tracks a lot. I got a more advanced and stiffer model from the same line (Volkl deacon 74, 168) and it was like a day and night difference.

I would love some advice regarding skis (and suggested lengths) to demo and hopefully purchase next season. Which length and model skis would you recommend for me to demo next season? Do you think I've outgrown my current skis?

More about me: I'm 5'4"/163 cm, female, 112lb/51kg. I started skiing in 2018 and am an intermediate skier at this point (ski greens/blues/blacks well enough, took a lot of lessons when I started learning but have hit an intermediate plateau and suspect my skis are keeping me from progressing further). I mostly ski on the east coast at the local hills in PA (Liberty Mountain/Whitetail), with occasional weekends at places in VT/WVa, and usually a handful of days each year in CO. I mostly ski on piste with the exception of some of the easier glade bits when I can find them (like the trees!). I have some hand-me-down Nordica Avenger 75 skis from 2015-2016 in 144 cm that I think I may have outgrown skill-wise.

I demoed a pair of Atomic Maven 93C in 164 cm about a month ago when I was visiting my parents and their nearby hill, Ski Sundown, had a demo day. I realized I like the Atomic Mavens SO MUCH MORE than my current skis-they were so much more stable and are easier to turn and cut through the ice/crud. The Atomic Mavens didn't feel 100% perfect (maybe they were a little too long, or I just needed to ski more on them to get used to them since they're so different from what I'm currently skiing on), so I'm wondering what else you would suggest for me and in which length.

I would like something that could be that one ski that could handle the east coast ice/crud/bumps/slush from the crowds at the local resorts as well as a light powder day in CO. I was initially thinking something like the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 in 159 cm, Nordica Santa Ana 93 in 158 cm, or maybe the Renoun Earhart 88 in 156 cm or 163 cm might work. Was unsure of the best ski length or if these skis would be too wide for daily use on the east (ice) coast. What do you think? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

I live in a resort in BC so I ski all season. I have been riding the nordica enforcer 104 free's all season and they have been great. I have a friend visiting who is intermediate so we will likely be ripping groomers for the day so I was keen to rent something smaller underfoot as might be more fun on the groomers.  


Any recommendations on size (width) or a ski as I am pretty oblivious to anything outside the big all mountain range. Thanks!

Recommend a skinnier ski for an experienced skier?

 I think I lost about $100-150 after reselling XT’s, so not a big deal - still beats renting. But be honest when you resell them.

I just couldn’t go any faster on xt and kendos where like night and day. Deacon line is very wide - i now have deacon 88 and deacon pro 74, which are both very stiff semi-racing skies. Hello all, 

I am in the market for a pair of skis and am torn mainly between two options, the Rustler 10's or the Mantra mantra m6. I am 6'1 170 lbs and love to ski. I would say I am on the advanced side with relatively good carving. I love to bomb it down the hill or have fun with small jumps on the side of groomers. I like to ski powder but don't get to often, however most importantly I am looking for skis that I can grow into and get far better with. I namely want to get better off-piste and with jumping/rails/cool simple tricks. Any advice is much appreciated!
