 At 95mm underfoot, the Dictator 2.0X is a versatile off-piste performer that's more than capable in deep snow but you might want something a little wider if you're heading in the direction of Japanese powder. All in all, a really solid, if not particularly playful ski that will satisfy powerful, confident female skiers. Whilst it definitely requires a solid drive, if you like to be in the front then you'll be pleased with how the Dictator 2

0X is a classic freeride, flat tail ski that demands to be skied with power, commitment and grandes cojones (or the female equivalent). At 76mm underfoot, it's definitely at home on the groomers and hardpack, and likes to be firmly up on edge. The Deacon XT has a small amount of tip rocker, which combined with its wood core helps with easy turn initiation and a mellow ride.

 So I skied this in a 168 if you like sort of blue runs and you kind of venture out onto those red runs in resort you know maybe it's the red runs are on the days when the conditions are like today you know beautiful blue sky days and the piece are hard. This is just a great ski as you get better maybe you take a lesson once in a while it's gonna get better with you and it's gonna give you that scope to improve your skiing. So we can see the cap construction here you can see at the tip and the tail the top sheet wraps from edge to edge and comes down over the sidewall and then in the middle of the ski you've got the sort of half sidewall here and that's what gives the ski its kind of strength in in the middle of the turn it gives it its grip so it's a really nice combination for a intermediate skier you know soft compliant turn in but a nice bit of grip in the turn and I even like the color.

 So we can see the cap construction here you can see at the tip and the tail the top sheet wraps from edge to edge and comes down over the sidewall and then in the middle of the ski you've got the sort of half sidewall here and that's what gives the ski its kind of strength in in the middle of the turn it gives it its grip so it's a really nice combination for a intermediate skier you know soft compliant turn in but a nice bit of grip in the turn and I even like the color.

 Hey Matt here from Stone Rock and I have been out skiing on the Volkl Deacon XTD.

 This is their sort of intermediate introductory piece ski and it's

 actually really really good. So when we arrived at the ski test I hadn't, I'll be

 honest with Covid, I hadn't actually been out on a set of skis for two years and

 this was the ski I chose to go out on because what I wanted was just a nice

 soft compliant ski to fill me with confidence, to let my legs remember my

 technique, to just just to really enjoy that moment of going skiing again and I

 think that tells a story a lot about what I think of this ski you know I'm

 here at the test every manufacturer has every ski here and this is the one I

 picked. Comes with a composite sort of combination core so they're basically

 combined wood on the edges and a composite strip down the middle and it

 just really really gives you the confidence to turn in but also because

 it it's it's not perhaps as torsionally stiff as a traditional wood core in a

 ski it means that if you want to if you get into that position where you perhaps

 want to let the ski slide out a little bit and let the back kind of wash away

 just to shed a bit of speed and just put you in that sort of more confident

 position it allows you to do that really really easily. So this ski has a cap

 construction and this is part of a sort of almost taking some of the torsional

 stiffness out of the ski and allowing it that sort of compliance and

 flexibility and that's what gives it its forgiveness. Don't get me wrong if you
