I also threw 325 on and unracked it just to see how the padding felt with heavier (for me) weight on there, and it was... okay. Granted, this is the first SSB I've used, so I have no basis for comparison, but it didn't feel extremely uncomfortable or painful. It didn't feel like I had pillows on my shoulders, don't get me wrong, but I think it's enough. I also did the classic balance test, and sure enough, the bar stays put hands-free, to the point where I'm going to include Hatfield Squats in my programming.

Looks like a weld bb left in threads where handles go. Handles will not thread in. If they checked this before shipping it out this would have been found. I will fix it with a tap but come on guys this is basic quality steps.

I only took it for a test drive today with one 45 pounds plate on each side. Felt good though. The bar DEFINITELY puts more emphasis on your quads. This is hopefully exactly what I need... Something to give more oomph to the quads (which is what I need to really get my straight bar squat to keep moving up) without taxing my core so much like a front squat and the fact that I can swap out one of my squat days with this and give my old ass shoulders a break now and again!.

This thing is incredibly heavy, like twice as heavy as a regular Olympic barbell. I was astonished at the weight of it, especially since I'm not a big guy. That being said, it balances incredibly well on my shoulders. The shape makes the center of gravity lower and your hand positions are more natur...

If you need a better, safer and more comfortable bar to squat with…this is it. It has perfect spacing between the shoulder pads (I’m 6’2” 240lbs) the pads are quality and so is the bar…the bar is heavy at 61lbs, instead of the normal 45lbs you get with the average 7 foot Olympic bar. There ARE cheap...
