Smart Home Sounds

 This is pretty basic, but effective, so you'll want to tell it, whether it's wall-mounted or on a stand, it's going to emit some sounds through the TV, which are picked up by your remote's microphone, and then voila, your audio is calibrated. Now, this is just for the onboard TV sound. You would not necessarily use this if you were using a sound bar or even one of Sony's own audio systems. And then we get to this Samba TV thing, which I always skip

 I do have an antenna connected because, again, I want to take a look at some of the next gen TV offerings in my area, so we'll auto scan for channels and then move forward. This is where, if you have devices plugged into the HDMI ports and turned on, the Sony will, to an extent, auto detect them. In this case, it didn't recognize the cable box, so I had to tell it it was a cable box, but it did recognize our Sony Blu-ray player and our Xbox Series X. Yes, I said Xbox

 This is where you're going to have to pay attention to privacy stuff, how much information you want to give to Google and to Sony. From there, if you have a cable box or antenna or both, you'll set that up here.  You will be signed into some of your apps, like YouTube, for instance. With Netflix, it's going to take a couple of clicks to get into your account. With other apps like HBO Max, you're going to have to go through the whole process of signing in with your username and password. All the apps that you like will be there, and all of the recommendations for content that you enjoy will be there, but there's still a little bit of hunting and pecking with a remote control in order to finish this process

 We had some fun with the Sony Z9J, but now it's time to get serious.

 This is possibly one of the most requested TV reviews I've ever had, certainly one of

 In fact, I ran a Twitter poll to find out which TV I should do next, and this one definitely

 came out on top, although not by as much as I expected because the second place, the runner-up,

 Anyway, we got to unbox this thing and see what it's all about, but while we're doing

 I don't have time to do a full review just on this, so I'm going to fold it in with the

 Time to install the legs, and it's real simple.

 We have three keyholes here, two screw slots, and the idea is you can either install it

 down low so that you have a little bit of room to install a soundbar, or for the more

 stealth look, which is what we're going to go for, you put them in the upper two.

 Just slide that into place, and then a couple of screws, and you're done.

 I think that trend is going to continue.

 Just a few things to mention while we're on the back of the TV shot here.

 One is you get two 4K 120 hertz HDMI ports.

 Three is also the eARC port, so keep that in mind.

 We're not going to be getting variable refresh rate with this TV.

 This is a known thing with Sony TVs this year.

 Could change at some point, but I still kind of doubt it given some recent developments.

 Also, we do have an ATSC 3.0 tuner built into this TV, so if you connect an antenna and

 you happen to live in a market where next-gen TV is online, it is available to you with

 There is some plastic to remove and some plastic to slap on, and then we're going to flip this

 We flipped the TV around, and strangely enough, the most notable thing to point out is actually

 They have a beveled edge, but the edge is on the inside, which I thought maybe meant

 I put them in incorrectly, but no, that's what it's intended for.

 Then I thought, well, maybe that's to accommodate a soundbar with a similar design, but the

 A7000 soundbar I have from Sony doesn't have that.

 It has flat edges, so who knows what they're doing there?

 Otherwise, the TV is exactly what you would expect from a high-end Sony, almost no bezels

 whatsoever, very clean edges and clean lines on this television, basically a big black

 slab with a generous amount of anti-reflective coating on the screen.

 Then we get to a picture quality assessment, but now I think it's time to turn this thing

 We turn the TV on, and if you're not aware, Sony runs the Google TV operating system,

 which makes setup extremely easy if you use Google TV.

 If you've not used it before, it's going to involve a little bit more setup time.

 Fortunately, I do use Google TV, and that's going to make everything go extremely quickly.

 I use the Google Home app to set up the television, which means all of the questions that Google

 TV has to ask me are going to be right on the app.

 It verifies the apps that you're subscribed to.

 A few clicks, and the TV goes into an update mode, and then the rest of the setup actually
