Sony X900E

I brought a Sony X900E in 2017 for double what I would have paid for a Samsung TV and it has been fine so far. My X900E has a lousy SoC that is slow without tweaks to make Android less memory intensive, but it gets the job done.

I had great luck with Sony LEDs in the past, especially my X900E, which is still going strong as my bedroom TV to this day. I do not regret buying the X900H. It has been an absolutely glorious 85" TV. I nearly went OLED, but, like I said, I game \*a lot\* and also was intending to use this TV as my theater room PC monitor, as I have my gaming PC hooked up to it.

This is a $3,000 55in tv and doesn't full live up to that price. 40% of the tv is reclaimed plastic. The packaging is cheap, plain cardboard, which looks like a $100 insignia. When you get the new one set up and configured, you'll sit down and say "ok, it looks like the old one" because honestly the 900e is an excellent TV even still and it looks very much like the newer 90 series in a real world viewing situation. And yes the 900e did feel like it was built better when I was moving the two tvs around. My 900e is starting to reboot randomly which has brought me to look for a new TV this year. I liked the x90k a lot because I liked the x900e a lot and they are very similar.

The picture quality on this model is amazing. The lighted remote is a good touch also. ATSC 3 tuner is good, if a bit slow to tune the station. I have an older Sony Bravia, X900E, the Android on-board is fine for most day to day stuff (for me at least, Youtube, Netflix, one or two TV on demand apps, Plex for music and HD content). ​.

The remote control doss not permit page down or up. As a result you have to scroll line by line. Very tedious. Additionally, the Google TV system is the worst. Too cryptic. More interested in promoting Google than serving the user.

The X950H was a better TV than the X950G. And so on. The X900E is not a better TV than the LG CX or Samsung Q90T. Again, it is a fine TV and it will be perfectly fine for PS5 use but its just not as good as newer models.

For what it's worth, I just exchanged my 2nd 65" Sony A90J for an 83" LG C1. The Sony A90J was very buggy and Dolby Vision isn't as good on it as with my LG.
