Sony BRAVIA XR A80K

Having had the A80K in the house, i can say for sure it does have superior processing, brightness, and color when compared to the A9G. But that semi gloss screen does feel “off” when compared to the A9G, and the improvements in processing and brightness aren’t massive, but they are noticeable.

I have owned great Sony flat screens in the past but this model is not great. The UI is slow and the tv has frozen to the point of unplugging 4 times in less then a month. I am brand loyal but for this size I would get Samsung. Anything bigger the 65 I would stick with Sony. Usually OLED is stunning...

The a80k has a better panel. It can be used as a center channel. The matte finish will not make darks look gray. It might be a bit more punchy.

I have the A80k and it’s an amazing tv. Gaming with ps5 is just on point super smooth. I returned C2, Samsung sb95 they didn’t perform as well as A80k. The hdr content, plus Dolby vision is all far above any TVs I have owned.

The picture is excellent if you don't have very many windows in your home, but don't expect the tv to be great in average lighting, also avoiding if you plan on using any onboard android I would avoid this tv because the performance is sub-par, and wifi drops off consistently.

this tv is a great tv with great features but it got frozen too often, you got to unplug it and restart it , which is something you don't want to be doing at all

The A90J is still likely to be "better" in terms of brightness due to its heatsink. The XR processor in the A80k is going to be a minimal upgrade from current A90J/A80J XR Processor - it has fancier marketing for 2022 "XR Contrast Pro" it's been dubbed, but many reputable names in the TV industry/people in the AVSForums/CES showings have pointed to it being a very minor upgrade. That's typically how that goes though when comparing models that are only 1 year apart. This year is no different.
