 The sizing for Fox River and SmartWolf are pretty much the same so 9 to 11.5 for men and for women it is going to be 10 to 12.5 exactly the same for Fox River. So if you're going to be looking at both socks and you want to try you can kind of get the same size of both socks and you don't have to worry about it

 What that's going to do is going to keep it snug around your foot and as needed because if you got 100% wool socks it's not going to be a snug fit it's going to get a little bit loose. SmartWolf is going to be more expensive than Fox River one because these socks actually have more wool content and that's pretty expensive. If you go out and try to find a wool shirt kind of like this one which you can watch out for the next video I'll do a little review on this sheep run shirt that I got off of Amazon. So let's kind of unpackage these a little bit SmartWolf does have a pretty cool system where all you have to do pull up on this tab 100% satisfaction guarantee same thing with these socks at the back they're a lot more cushioned for your heels and easy tugability

 So if you're going to go on a longer hike the more wool content the better it is going to be at moisture wicking and odor resistant which is going to be really good for you stinky mofos that don't like to shower or put deodorant on. Usually use grey smart wool socks, but decided to order dark Navy & Chestnut color socks from this company. Upon delivery, discovered that the socks come with small grey/silver stripes intermixed with the Navy and Chestnut colors. So, one ends up with Navy/Grey & Chestnut/Grey color socks. In this case, the color is not that important, so am going to give them a try

The phd snows that I got are over the calf socks that means they're going to come up a good ways up your legs so that they're going to protect your foot and your shin from the boot so that your boot isn't coming in contact directly with your leg or with your base layer

 For me that's just how I prefer to have all of my ski socks even when I'm wearing winter boots I like to make sure that they're near or above the top of the boot just to provide that extra layer of comfort. I do ski but I have the phd snows as well as they sort of were an add-in to a order that I got. There's no issue with using these socks for skiing or using the phd skis for snowboarding. They're very interchangeable

 I believe even though i ordered the right size for my feet and were snug fitting when i put them on, on the move they stretch and get baggy, feel loser and ruck up a little in my boots unlike those from KEECOW which were tighter. Summary, these socks look nice and may be in the right price range for the percentage of Merino wool, but are, in my honest opinion, not suited for my style of hiking/marching.

I bought these socks especially for hiking/marching at speed with loaded rucksack in the hope that they would be better than the Darn Tough socks i have that caused hotspots leading to blisters, i was very disappointed. After only 5 km, i could feel hotspots forming and by 7 km the start of blisters. The speed that i move at is between 6 - 6.5 km carrying only 23 kgs and i normal do about 3 hikes of 12 km per week on roads or grassland

 My boots are very high quality from Lowa and well worn in. Strangely enough, wearing cheap KEECOW hiking socks for around 5 euro a pair i do not get any blisters or hotspots. Not good for fast hiking (marches)

 The Smartwool PhD Ski Socks are over the calf so they'll come all the way up above your boot which makes it a little more comfortable so that you're not having the tops of your boots dig into your shin or anything. I always find skiing with longer socks is more comfortable as then my whole boot is touching sock as opposed to touching my skin or my base layer pants. You can see right here on the tag that right here has got cushioning and then the toes and the heel also have cushioning. So that cushioning's in place in order to provide a little more comfort when you ski, especially this one right here

 The Lite Elite I haven't used before but I thought I'd try it as I found with the other ones I have, sometimes I'm a little too warm and I thought these would be good for the more mild days where it's not as cold. So for me, I only ski with smart wool socks. I find they're the most comfortable and really keep my feet warm as well. I find that having them be so customizable depending on what you want really helps to allow you to find the most comfortable fit

 I have had many, many pair of Smart Wool socks and bought a pair a couple months ago that ARE full cushion that I liked a lot from a retailer for $27. These had the same description so I ordered them. But, these are lightweight, lots of spandex and nylon, and the terry inside feels horrid to walk on, like wasking on a very old terry towel. I am so disgusted with Amazon using knock-offs or seconds or whatever they do

 That's probably why they have a good return system to keep up from being TOO mad about it. I will miss the convenience, but think of how much time it takes to search, order, return and then write a review. If I add that up these socks cost about $60. Shame on me for being duped yet again

NOT quality Smart Wool

These socks are good because: 1) they are made of wool, so the fibers simply cannot retain moisture, only pass it thru, 2) they are long, so the fitting to your calf and foot stays put all day long and also keeps the dust away from the leg, 3) they are Smartwool, so it is a machine-washable advanced wool fabric, 4) they come in different colors, so they don’t get mixed up although all colors seem versatile enough to match normal hiking shoes. A few pairs of these socks will replace one drawer full of junk socks. For ultra long life, I recommend not putting in dryer, just lay flat a few hours.
