Smartwool Classic Mountaineer Maximum Cushion Crew Socks

I've been wearing Smartwool socks for 15+ years and do so because IMO, they are the best....but like everything mid and post pandemic, it appears people just don't care anymore and it shows with the quality of these socks. Not sure if it's just a fluke, but I'm noticing a trend.

These socks are fine, but I wouldn't call them "Maximum Cushion" like the description says. They are not as thick as the Smartwool Hike Full Cushion socks. 4 stars for the socks themselves, 2 stars for the misleading description = 3 stars overall.

Not thicker or any more robust than other standard merino wool socks. Comfortable? Yes. Worth $30? Probably not, and certainly not as a "mountaineering" sock. Feet would darn well freeze. Disappointed.

These are just what you need if you want a pair of high quality, thick, warm, wool socks. Nature cannot be beat, and real wool beats all of the alternatives for legit warmth in cold weather.
