It fit perfectly! So cool that I can get this part for my 1970s sansui turntable. And the price was attractive too. I only bought one ... so hope you are still around if I need another.

Bought a Dual 1219, Two ?uestions

The Shure M75 is a good cart. I would stick with it. I have a few EVG styli for Shures which sound great, without even considering that they cost about $25 a pop. No need to replace a classic.

Picked up an untested Philips GA 212 for $40 untested, after I replaced the non-standard AC adapter it worked flawlessly! Now just to replace the old cartridge and give the cover some TLC!

A very underrated deck, back on the day. Pair it with a good cart that likes low mass arms and the sound is sweet.

I'd guess that a vintage Shure like an M75, plus a LPGear improved elliptical will astound you.

Found this in the basement, along with some of The Beatles records. Its missing a needle and needs a good clean, any advice?

They're a bunch of unresponsive, uncommunicative, questionable dirtbags. I have an order that I've been waiting on for weeks, and they haven't even shipped it yet. You said the cartridge is a Shure M75, and you can get some very nice aftermarket styli for that - Get a Jico (Japan) if you can. Alternatively, Grado cartridges work well on Duals, for a number of reasons.

Vintage vs. Modern

Get a JICO SAS stylus for your M75 and spend the money you would’ve spent on a new turntable elsewhere. Assuming your TT is fully restored, it’d cost at least a grand for a lateral replacement. There’s also a number of minor tweaks you can do to nudge the performance. Putting rubber feet on the plinth and polishing the drive rim on the platter will cost you about ten dollars at the hardware store and pay off immensely.

Can anyone give any additional info about my grandfathers original working AR XA Turntable from the 60s? (lots of pics/docs)

The V15 Type 2 is the same cart as the M75 and sounds excellent with a new elliptical stylus, LPGear has plenty for around $40, excellent quality. It's arm might be best suited for a vintage classic low compliance MM cart like the Shure SC35C or a MC like the Denon DL-103. The XA is a well made deck, very simple and can last a long, long time.

For the M75-variant equipped model (such as the M71MC or M75CS), the N93E stylus would upgrade it to an M93E, which allows you to track between 2-2.5g. The stacking feature is more ideal for 7” (17cm) 45s than it is for 12” (30cm) LPs, and a 45rpm stacker is available.

I have a Dual 1228. Arm is good, but the needle, cart, and sled are missing. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

A vintage Dual sled + Shure cart is pretty easy to find on eBay. Even an inexpensive M75 (or equivalent) plus a $35 improved elliptical stylus sound quite good.

Phono preamp suggestion for a $1,500 system

Have thrown Grace F-8, Shure SC35C and M75, Denon DL 103, Supex SD900 Super, AT3600L and Nagaoka MP 100 at it. Brilliant with MM. Very open, dynamic with punchy bass, smooth mids and treble, excellent imaging.
