Shimano ME5 Mountain Bike Shoe Review

Had to return. Using a size 46 Shimano shoe for several years now, ordered a 46 to replace and it was significantly too small.  Generally have had good luck with Shimano gear, and especially shoes.

 Hey again guys, what is going on? My name is Richard and today we're checking out these awesome shoes from Shimano. Now these are ideal for endurance challenges and trail riding. You do have a durable upper made of lightweight synthetic materials with those hook and loop straps on the top here. They're really really strong, really lock your foot into place and then of course you got that buckle closure on the side to really make sure everything stays right where it should

Good shoe for the price

 They are very durable despite being quite lightweight. I have been using Shimano shoes for the past few years and they haven't let me down through just massive beatings. The sole is plenty stiff for efficient pedaling and still good for downhills. The newly designed top buckle is very good and much better improvement over the old one

I ride about 100 miles/week so having a well fitting pair of bicycle shoes (with SPD pedals) is very important. I wear size 9D street shoes and have always found the Shimano 43 a good fit. When the Sh-MES shoes arrived I noticed that Shimano had changed their shoe design (longer and narrower) and I was afraid that my loyalty to this brand of shoes was ending. But, much to my surprise the fit is great and probably the best fitting bicycle shoes I have owned

 The soles provide decent traction for mounting. My heel comes out of it slightly when climbing off my bike (its not functionally impairing). This may be due to sizing, I'm a 9.5 in the english system and I chose a 43

Consistently enjoyable

 Treads are great without looking like 4x4 tires on a mazda. Fit as expected, snug like a cycling shoe should.

 I had a pair of $200 shoes that got stolen—-so I got these and am just as happy with them as I was with those. They work well.
