I know this takes a lot of time to do, but apparently because of the number of either a miscut holes or B small holes that are out there, they have done away with the shroud. Now this is typically this is known as a ice pick shroud and what happens here is you have this if you have have a latch right there just like that and let's put this uh, however it's supposed to be like right? So so what happens is that that shields this part of the latch so that you can't come in with an ice pick or something straight and stiff and jam in the wood and it protects this area of the latch

 But anyway, that's it for that video. I just thought I would update you guys that it is going to be a permanent change for the B60n. If you're worried about things getting ice picked or your latch being ice picked, definitely go with the 560 deadbolt it also comes with instead of this instead of this dinky little strike right here. it comes with a regular strike and the security strike package with the three-inch screws that we all love and it is a little bit more, but it is a much better deadbolt and I believe I haven't ordered one lately

Works good pretty easy to install.

 So to put it bluntly, if we didn't have some way of keeping him inside he couldn't defeat, he'd probably not survive alone outside of our house. We did have a gate blocking off the front door which he was unable to open because his fine motor wasn't developed enough to do it, but he's become strong enough to rip it out of the wall mounts, and he's recently gained the ability to get the chain undone we had as a back up plan. He currently can not pick out a particular key matched to a specific lock out of a line up, much less get one inserted in a lock, so we replaced out the deadbolt with this as a back up layer of protection for him. We got this color because it perfectly matches our other hardware

Both of the keys that came with it work, and the key copied well when we made a copy so that our daughter could have one as well

We purchased this to replace the deadbolt on our front door. We have a sweet son with an assortment of diagnoses who has absolutely no risk assessment ability, little impulse control, and a complete inability to understand and therefore navigate safely the dangers of the streets outside of our house at this time. One of the Screw Covers Doesn't Fully Cover the Screw

I recently purchased a single key & knob ordinary dead bolt from Schlage for a family member. The old lock had gone bad and I wanted something better. It works so well I decided I could use one - a 2-key type since I have a side window next to the door and if broken would allow a knob type to be turned. Unfortunately none of the hardware stores in town carried the 2-key version so I was forced to purchase this online

 It gives you two options for the strike plate: Two ordinary short screws, or as I opted, two very heavy duty 2 1/2 - 3 inch screws to guard against outside leverage. The lock operates very smoothly and the key glides in and out. I used WD-40 on the inside and powdered graphite in the key hole, but this was probably not necessary. If you are looking for a step up from the basic dead bolt, I highly recommended this

Feeling Much Safer

 Another thing is that there is no drill template with it, so measure carefully as these deadbolts require precise holes for proper work. I like long screws that come with strike plate - the long enough to get screwed in vertical 2x4 inside the wall which adds rigidity to the lock.

I needed a deadbolt that’ll work with my smart Alexa-controlled lock and this item fits the bill perfectly. It is also a perfect color/texture match for my other Schlage locks and door handles. My only complain is that they apparently changed the lock guts for something cheaper - and now the key cylinder is not matching in color the rest of the lock. It only about 1/2” round piece, so it is not a huge deal, but still

Bro, this thing was so effin easy to install I have an entire day to do whatever the flip I want now. The brink sets I've gotten in the past have been a whole conundrum fiasco nightmare time, so I put off changing the locks for a while. But this lil bad boy was up and running in like 10 minutes. Price is worth the lack of desperation, hopelessness and stubbed toes from kicking inanimate objects out of object rage
