 Once install you have to program the master key, and make it to move in the correct direction, well after resetting it over 50 times, I did succeed to make it to work. Before purchasing the lock, I swing by at HD, and my Baldwin/Schlage key did fit in to the demo lock. Be aware that they use lock similar to Kwikset keys (thinner keys). I had to purchase a key module from Yale that fit the Baldwin/schlage type of keys, and re-key it

 another $45. After all this it works. If one wonder why I did not buy the Schlage device over the Yale, the problem is that it support only 4 digit codes, that gives you 9999 options, (or the new model that has 6, and cost $280) and the Yale has 8 digits, which is more secure.

From my reviews of several locks and perhaps not researching this one like I should have, I was hoping to have the feature to set a one-time pass code that would automatically expire after use. I needed a good electronic lock to replace a manual Kwikset deadbolt. I looked at Kwikset and other brands of basic and smart electronic locks, and decided on this Yale based on its construction, quality, features and overall good reviews. It replaced the Kwikset deadbolt easily and I didn't even have to replace the striker plate. But I did have to make the bolt hole deeper because this Yale deadbolt extends in a bit further

 The ad for the product is very ambiguous because it implies that only the "August Smart Module" is required for these functions to operate. That is only part of it, and the additional required parts are not available separately. (The kit includes Yale's version of the "August Smart Module" as well as the "Yale Smart Module"-Absolutely required- as well as Yale's "Door Sense" feature) The "Yale access Upgrade Kit" is mentioned later in the ad, but the earlier mention of the "August Smart Module" with the picture showing it as the only required item for the remote functions makes it appear that it is all that is necessary-and I'm quite tech savvy !! (also it was hard to convince the foreign Amazon customer service emloyees what the problem was. I had to re-order several times before I got the required items and I don't know for sure if I got over billed or not)

The lock works well and as advertised. However, when ordering, this lock REQUIRES the "Yale Access Upgrade Kit" to perform ANY of the remote access functions. This is my limited review. I did not install it but I do want to share my journey to get a lock cylinder so all of my keys would match. I am not a locksmith, but the guy that installed the lock said I got a good one so thumbs up from him. He's the pro, I trust what he says

 No mention of re-removing the batteries to re-assemble the lock to reinserting the batteries and THEN put the battery cover back on. A "it goes without saying" attitude does not make good documentation or happy customers. Online videos don't agree with printed instructions. Sent an email with some questions to their "We're Here To Help!" address--no response

 I had trouble getting the lock mechanism to work but, once I factory reset it, things worked fine.  My one other minor complaint is that the 'lock after time_period' feature does not allow for a long-enough time period.

summary: I have three of these locks. They look good and work well.  pros: This lock looks good and allows you to set temporary codes for people to use. I also like that I can use the added August module to make it 'smart' so that I can set it up to auto-lock at certain times of the day/night and lock when I tell the Google Assistant to 'lock the door'
