 It feels like you know it's just for a brand new bike, but still pitched. as a gravel bike, it feels like that's that's an omission, but you know I mean it's It's pretty solid for the most part, but that price tag is a hard one to get past. so I think probably. it seems like the biggest downside is that it's just kind of expensive for what you get and it's more that like

 Now you do have a threaded bottom bracket. Halleluyah! Santa Cruz offers the stigmata in five different build kits, starting at 2,600 us with Siran rival and going all the way up to 99 hundred us with SRAM red axis complete with Santa Cruz's on carbon reserve wheels. In terms of weight, the Santa Cruz is like the geometry pretty middle-of-the-road claim frame. wait for a medium-sized is 1600 grams and then this bike, as you see it here is eight point four, five kilos

 It came with a you know Shimano's top end Rommel group set and duration clinchers and as it is I mean this bike ended up being one of the lighter ones on test. Think the two by eleven Jrx group set is a great pick at the moment for gravel. it's reliable works well. One thing about the frame I do like is that the C tubes not round in shape but Santa Cruz has still managed to make it a band clamp front derailleur so you can actually take that clamp off and allow the frame to have a completely clean aesthetic if you don't need to run one by on it

2020 Field Test: Santa Cruz Stigmata CC gravel bike review

Looking for some opinions on this. I've got back into cycling in the past 2 years getting my first road bike (Cannondale CAAD Optimo with Claris) and working up to doing about 100-150km a week on it with a longer ride (about 50-100km) on the weekend. It's a race bike and came with quite small (23c) tyres so naturally only been using it on roads and paved cyclepaths. 

I'm looking to upgrade in the next 6-9months, but obviously with the current bike shortage, I'm trying to plan ahead and start looking now. Originally my plan was to get a more endurance focused bike (Ribble Endurance, Bianchi Infinito, Cervelo Caledonia or Cannondale Synapse) with a carbon frame and Ultegra groupset. This would probably cost around £3k. 

However I'm getting tempted by gravel bikes. And I realised I could get a gravel/cyclo-cross bike like the Ribble Gravel, Cannondale Topstone, or Boardman CXR for about 1.5k. Then get an aluminium road focused bike with 105 for about the same. 

My reason for wanting to move from the CAAD is mainly;

- The geometry is a little agressive for longer rides and would like something more comfortable. 
- I'd like more gears, I'm quite often feeling like I could do with a gear between this one and the next one. Top and bottom gears aren't a problem, I'm never really spinning out or finding I'm needing another gear on climbs. 
- the brakes are crap. I'm not the lightest person so on descents it's a little bit dicey. Any bike I end up purchasing will have hydraulic discs. 

In any case I'll probably keep it and use it for commuting/winter bike. 

So what would you do? Is it better to focus on the road cycling and get the better road bike or is the gravel option worth exploring? Also any opinions on the bikes listed here are welcome.

I'm saving money to buying a second bike after getting my canyon endurace AL 6.0. I'm looking to get one of them next summer if I am lucky. The Grail 7 seems to be the best match for me. The price and components are a steal for the price. I was also looking at Trek, specialized but they seem to be more expensive. Is there a reason why? What other brands should I look at for gravel or mountain? For mountain, I was thinking of Neuron 5 or 6.

<p>Edit: thanks to all who commented it! After going to my LBS and talking with my good friend there. Since I already have two road bikes Raleigh (trainer bike) and Canyon (Main bike). Is worth buying MTB instead. Gravel from the most part seems to be like a rod bike and definitely does since the price range is similar to it. Now to which mountain bike I should get. Since I’m new to MTB I’m probably going to get something that is in my LBS instead of canyon (unless they are worth it). I love canyon tho and I wish I could have all bikes as canyons. My price range for MTB is $2500-$2700</p>

For those who have road bikes, would you consider getting a gravel or mountain bike as your second bike?

Honestly a light weight bike is just more fun IMO. I had a heavy as shit Kona Rove ST and now have a very light Santa Cruz Stigmata. The Stiggy is so much fun on single track and “underbiked” situations. The rove was more of a hummer while the Stig is more of a rally car

My question is for gravel bikes is carbon good? I know it will be smoother, but as far as cracking etc... if you drop it, light crashes has anyone had any issues?

I am not looking at going super hardcore offroad, just gravel, dirt paths etc... I'm used to riding for speed and that's why I thought the Revolt 2 would be a good option for me.
