What size rotosound bass strings will fit on my squire precision bass?

Best is subjective. Rotosound 66 are cheap but great. D'addario Pro steels and Dean Markley Blue Steels are favourites of mine.

I’m looking for some stainless steel roundwound light gauge strings. I have no idea which brands are good at making these kind of strings so could someone tell me what’s the best overall?

Geddy mainly uses Stainless Rotosound Swing 66 strings so I tried them out and really enjoy them after getting used to the texture.

i’ve been meaning to replace my strings for over a year now and I want to make sure I get the right ones. I have a standard 5 string Squier jazz bass and I don’t know much about scale length or string gauge’s. I’m fine with any strings you guys recommend and as far as pricing goes, I can buy strings from the 30-70$ dollar price range.

what strings do you guys recommend that I get?

I play a P-Bass with a J-bass neck, a Seymour Duncan Vintage P pickup, and Rotosound Swing 66 strings. Growl for days! Make sure you get a compressor to even everything out and keep everything punchy

I really want to know whether I should get a P or J for that krist noveselic/ flea tone (I know they both used a J or something similar, but I wonder if I could get that low raspy tone from a Precision?). And I run Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats on my P bass for a great blend of vintage coolness and modern translation. Also the lighter tension helps my fingers on 4 hour gigs.

That said, Rotosound Swing Bass 66 are just an absolute classic string that are used exclusively by some of the best players around. I personally play the Solo 55's, but the Swing 66's are significantly more popular with their great growl and brightness.

I used to use the D'Addario [EXL 170-5](https://www.daddario.com/products/guitar/bass-guitar/xl-nickel-bass/exl170-5-nickel-wound-5-string-bass-light-45-130-long-scale/) strings, but out of my store not having them, I opted for the [EXL 160-5](https://www.daddario.com/products/guitar/bass-guitar/xl-nickel-bass/exl160-5-nickel-wound-5-string-bass-medium-50-135-long-scale/) as they seemed around the same. I love how the low notes really sound good and bassy on my bass, but I do miss the brightness of the G (and D) strings that were on the 170's. I found a set that is literally a combination of the two, [EXL 165-5](https://www.daddario.com/products/guitar/bass-guitar/xl-nickel-bass/exl165-5-nickel-wound-5-string-bass-custom-light-45-135-long-scale/item/daddario-exl165-5-string-nickel-wound-bass-guitar-strings-custom-light-45-135-long-scale-917/), but I haven't tried it yet, so I'm wondering if any of you guys have some other good recommendations? Criteria is really just *tight strings (around 200-225 lbs tension)*, good fat lows, but also bright on the highs!

I had this talk with a fellow bassist and he said Ernie ball strings are kind of a phase musicians work through until they find a better brand, and I can’t help but agree based on my own experience.</p>
