I searched a number of sites for the Risk board game I remember playing in the 80's to give my 13-year-old who enjoys strategy games (namely, Settlers of Catan and Diplomacy). Game play great! Pieces are a waste.
Game is great EXCEPT it would have been easier with just all the same type of troops. The pieces that are worth 5 and 10 just make game play slower because you have to exchange them out as you attack and lose. We have been just using all the pieces as value of 1 troop. For me it has to be Star Wars Risk. We played it a half dozen times and loved it, was a lot of fun, but the empire kept losing. After another half a dozen plays the rebels kept winning. We looked online and applied some amendments to the rules but went the other way.
