I was recently bitten by the vinyl bug and am looking to upgrade from an AT-LP60XBT to a Rega Planar 6. Originally I was thinking of upgrading sometime next year after my collection has grown a bit more, but I’ve already started seeing Black Friday ads pop up everywhere. So that got me thinking I could possibly get some good deals with the looming holiday sales.

I'm wanting to upgrade my ATLP60 that is probably 10 years old. I'm looking to spend less than $500. Does anyone have thoughts on this one?

Get a Rega Planar. They’ve been around forever, they’re proven, and there is a huge upgrade market for them. Also, if you want to upgrade to a better table, Rega will be easier to sell.

Should I pick up the Debut Carbon EVO, or save up for the Rega Planar 3? Potential Phono preamp?

Also consider the made in the USA VPI Cliffwood over the Rega Planar 3 if you will not be adding the $400 NEO PSU that is included with the Rega Planar 6. Phono stage preamps if the receiver or amp upgrade does not have a built in phono stage preamp:.

**If this is not more expensive than your speakers**, I’d choose the Rega Planar 6. If it is more expensive than your speakers, I’d suggest reconsidering the balance of the system. The positives about the Planar 6 for me are the tonearm, dust cover, and the aesthetics.
