And this is my favorite combination with this pen because it's a burgundy barrel. you know, Uh, I tend to line.

So what we have here is the Pilot P95 S and this is an extra fine nib.

Platinum Pocket Pen Black GT (F). Pilot E95s/Elite Pocket Pen (F). Pilot Maki-e Collection Crane (F) (Made in the early 90s, might be something else, haven't fully verified with contact at Pilot USA yet).

It's so close to being a good pen but just isn't. I have pens that are actually lighter than this one but for some reason there is just something "off" about the weight. It just bugs me to write with it every time and I was really thinking I'd be fine with it. It's feels as though it is only 1mm thi...

Montblancs from around the 80s onward are just an average pen with a logo, Visconti have absolutely wank-arse quality control and customer support and Lamy are charging £500 for a 2000 because 'hehe it's brown', meanwhile Pilot is producing the objective cheapest gold nibbed pen out there (the E95S, my first gold-nibbed pen), Platinum make the Preppy, which is dirt cheap and a very competent writer and multiple companies produce very good value for money school fountain pens for under £10. People often post super expensive pens on here for the fake internet points and to go 'look, look, I have a thing!

Lower priced Pilot pens are great, but generally aren't very "classy" looking. So I'd probably just spend the extra $16 over budget and get an E95S (or perhaps order from Pensachi?). But, I understand that's not always possible or desired, so my second choice would be a TWSBI Diamond 580, but demonstrators aren't everyone's cup of tea (especially when thinking about "classy" pens) and some people prefer the convenience of cartridge/converter pens, plus very few people outside of the FP world have heard of TWSBI.

I also write A4 pages with it and it’s very enjoyable. The 845’s nib is indeed very pretty, and it wrote perfectly out of the box. I’d honestly expect no less from Pilot, especially since every pen I’ve ever bought from them has lived up to their great QC reputation.
