Pilot Custom 845

I also vote for the Kakuno, though if you're really eager to spend the money there are a couple of the Pilot Custom pens that take the CON-70 and are very nice.

No damage to pen and it arrived 2-3 weeks before it was supposed to. The pen itself is amazing, the Urushi has a very warm and interesting feel. I got this pen because it is the cheapest Urushi pen you can buy to the best of my knowledge. Nib is very large and unique, soft, but deffinetly not a flex...

At the softest setting, it writes like a Custom 67 (which I have in F, B, and C, if not like a Custom 845, which I have in BB or a Custom URUSHI, which I have in B). At the hardest setting, there is no hard start, very stable. You see in the second picture, the ink is "reserved" between the nib and the gimmick thingy, which prevents hard starts (only when setting is the hardest).

Pilot Custom 845, for a few reasons: it's a Pilot, it's a urushi pen, and Visconti pens have middling reliability issues. Easy choice between those two pens in my book.

The Custom 845 definitely has that special feeling, even if it has a more classic design. I also write A4 pages with it and it’s very enjoyable. The 845’s nib is indeed very pretty, and it wrote perfectly out of the box. I’d honestly expect no less from Pilot, especially since every pen I’ve ever bought from them has lived up to their great QC reputation.

Pilot Custom 845. Not sure about the color yet. Also pretty much anything from Ryan Krusac, probably either a full wooden pen or one of the dragon pens made from antler. Don’t think I’m buying anything until next year though since I wanna enjoy my current pens more and bought a bit too many in recent months.

Yes, the catalog of Pilot says K-500RS could come with EF, F, FM, M, B and that is it, but... the cap ring says Pilot Custom.... Ah, yes, this pen is absolutely fantastic. It was rather expensive (4,000 Japanese Yen) which typically goes beyond my budget... But I could not resist.... And now I feel my 4,000 Japanese Yen has been well spent... (I can safely assume though my wife has a completely different opinion....).

The hook lock sits right under my thumb and it isn’t painful, but it’s also not comfortable. Now (before I’ve even returned it) I am looking at the Pilot 845, it’s the only one I’ve looked at that doesn’t have big threads and it’s urushi, so that’s exciting.
