Pelikan Souverän M800

Pens from L-R Sheaffer Legacy Sheaffer Balance II, (both 1990s) Pelikan M 805 Streseman, Pelikan, 800 (mid-90s), Waterman LeMan, Franklin Christoph #19, Sheaffer Targa, Cross Townsend, Lamy 2000, Aurora Talentum, Mont Blanc 146, Pilot 823, Pilot CH 912, and Pilot Custom 742. It's really nice to be able to share, and although I haven't done much posting, I read this forum regularly and find that there are informative posts here every day. This is a recent surprise to myself. But I'd probably pick a Pelikan m800 or m1000. They're solid and any nib size I've tried has been wonderful.

Today my newest acquisition came by the mail, the Pelikan M800 Stone Garden Special Edition. It was a lucky find in a well hidden online store from Berlin, where a last specimen was available, equipped with a fine nib, which would have been my first choice, so I was pretty happy to locate that pen. I am currently probing into different brands and types of pen to select my next 'I want to collect something' item.

I rotate through my collection and will happily daily carry anything from a Platinum Prefounte to a Pelikan M800, just depends on what strikes my fancy when I go into my pen case.

You know, say, on Pelikan Souverän M800, you can still talk about aesthetics, something like “I know Palikan may not be considered as one of those beautiful fountain pens, I guess there are some people feel the pen is rather ugly, but I have found the pen is beautiful in its own way…”. So, you have something to talk about.

I highly recommend. Since finally getting a Pelikan Souveron M800 (which I absolutely, positively, utterly, and fully adore), I rarely use my M120 or M200 because they feel quite flimsy in comparison. I like gushing writers so the Lamy 2000 oblique double broad, the TWSBI Diamond 580 stub, and the Sailor 1911L Cross Point are tops.

Got my Pelikan M800 on a literal paper container from Amazon. I bought that pen for 300$... I don't have the warranty too... It's as if the pen was sold as a B-stock or something (there is a very very small scratch on the lip of the pen, but it is unnoticeable without a loupe and the pen had been writing splendidly for more than 2 years....).

It’s the nib - and the excuse to use several different colors of ink in the myriad colors Sailor produces - but the nib, especially the 21k variety are incredible. They make me want to write every chance I get. Now I don’t pre-judge any fountain pens when I see people raving about them. Which is why I now own a Pelikan M800 (thought they looked ugly at first; now they’re beautiful), and I recently jumped on the Custom 823 train - these things have a magical quality to them that makes me go, “damn”, every time I pick them up.

Since I picked up a Pelikan M800 I used it a great deal. Once I picked up. the Pelikan M1000 with the old style nib I have only written with that one. Took time to get used to it but man I Love how it writes and feels in my hand.

The most well known is Pelikan Souverän. Also I heard Twisbi is also very good, matching Souverän, but I do not have a Twisbi, so that part is not first hand experience.
