Today we are reviewing Patagonia Houdini. Why I decided to buy this jacket, how its performed for me. So why did I end up buying this jacket yeah?

This jacket is super ultralight. The jacket is very comfortable, very, very light, and you have a pocket here that you can put like a cellphone.

I prefer the snug fit which makes it an excellent companion piece to a shell or insulated jacket. For reference I am a tweener sized human, size S Nanopuff and size M Houdini both purchased in 2011. Excellent breathability, cut, comfort.

But when it's too warm for a light wind jacket I usually don't need a jacket?. So I'm guessing you want something more breathable than the Gamma SL: There's the Patagonia Houdini Air or the Patagonia Airshed, both are extra breathable windshells that will be less warm than the Gamma SL (but not by very much). If you want to wear a jacket in summer, maybe one of these or a super light fleece is the way to go?

Big wind pants guy here. I like the Patagonia Houdini pants. Great for bugs. Just a few ounces. Breathable. I'm in NH and they're not too hot when I need bug protection in the summer. Mine are black and they're fine hiking in the woods.

The downside is it’s not super breathable and the fit is snug, limiting layering underneath (base + grid fleece). As long as you favor wind resistance over breathability and don’t need to layer a lot it’s a good option. The Patagonia Houdini Air and Black Diamond Alpine Start are more breathable options, though the Houdini is more fragile and the BD is on the heavy side for a wind shell.

Patagonia Houdini already mentioned is a very nice ultra lightweight option for light rain. It will wet out quickly in heavy rain though.
