Parker Sonnet

I would recommend a Parker Sonnet with a 18k nib. Just thought of a Sheaffer Targa. They are not made anymore but you can pick them up from eBay easily enough. Their inlaid nibs are beautiful and they write very smoothly.

I know its not exactly an entry level pen but its worth checking out - Parker Sonnet. I believe its all you want from a pen: a brand you know, its definetely heavier than jotter, its a twist pen and its a great writer! And they are readily available on the after market for a lot cheaper than new.

The pen is beautiful and comfortable in the hand, although a little thinner than I typically prefer. However, the box did not have the welcome booklet or warranty information in it. I’m guessing it was a return or something.

Absolutely! My gateway drugs were mainly Parker Jotters, Vectors and the odd Sonnet (there used to be a cheap version) and 45 filled with blue Quink from the school bookshop for quite a few years. It wasn't until university when I got into other pens.

Parker mechanical pencils are lovely. I got a Jotter, Frontier, Urban a Sonnet and an IM. It is a pity that they are only making the Jotter nowadays. I love matched fountain pens and pencils.
