The Pantum P2502W seems to be in the right vein, though I'm concerned about it being a cheap brand and breaking prematurely. Also it disgusts me that it was so cheap before, as low as $25, and now it's $100. I currently have an old Samsung CLP-315 that's broken.

The Pantum P2502W is another monochrome laser that might actually be a little smaller than the HP. You can find them on Amazon for less than $100, and is probably a little cheaper per page than the HP to use. I actually have an earlier model that works fine that I picked up for $30 when they first came out.
