Paiste PST7

Sometimes those “entry level” cymbals are just as good as pro level. The cymbal makers have stepped up their game. Paiste PST7 and PST8 are incredibly good cymbals made with the 2002 alloy and labeled as “entry level or intermediate” cymbals and I have to say that those cymbals sound remarkably good.

Paiste PST7 is a great entry set and sonically - is surprisingly amazing for the price point. I'm biased since I'm a Paiste player so take it with a grain of salt....but definitely wouldn't recommend that. I'd say go to a guitar center and try out a bunch of cymbals, and see how they sound not just together if you're playing a set - but also with your drums too and with the music you plan on playing. That, and again, I'd always advise everyone to save for your "dream cymbal set" and get it rather than upgrade after upgrade.

The cymbals are good. The delivery left something to be desired. 3 days after they were supposed to arrive I got a message that they were lost. A replacement was sent which arrived a day after the original showed up. Now I have to return one. What a hassle.

Pst7 are quiet but sound great. Avoid 16 inch and lower on budget lines but if your ear likes it then it's good; trust your ears. Shop in person if possible. Thomann has sound samples on their website for most cymbals; great for cross checking and building a basis of cymbal characteristics.

I'm a full on Paiste lover and only own Paiste cymbals. Depending on your budget they have a lot of different lines you can buy depending on your budget you can look into the pst7, 900, 602 moderne essentials, 2002, big beat, giant beat, masters, signature, signature dark energy or signature traditionals. That being said, the best advice I can give is to check out a lot of cymbal demo videos on YouTube with headphones. That way you can really research about the different brands and models.

If you're looking at Paiste, the PST7's are absolutely great and sound freaking awesome! Honestly, you can just play those and it's golden. However, if you want to get the top of the line - you can never go wrong with 2002s (red label or Big Beats) or even Giant Beats. All are professional grade and you can buy em used a lot of times at a great discount and know they'll sound amazing.
