Even though I'm very happy to cook in the Unicode 12 making my 10-inch pizzas going forward, the great thing about the 16 is that if you decide to cook either 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch or up to 16 inch pizza you're not limited by the size and if you do prefer cooking bigger pizza it just gives you more options of pizza size

 I cook with this oven on full flame and that suits my cooking style however this flame level is a personal thing. There's no right or wrong. It's better to cook on a lower flame if you want to achieve a crispy crust. If you want a fast 60 second cook push it to the full flame

 Let's do it. However making 15 inch pizza for me is a challenge. I am not good at stretching and I have to have some assistance from my mini pizza roller to get the stretch to that size

 It's fine for the stone to be cooler away from the flames as long as it's 430 degrees centigrade at the center of your pizza cook it'll pick up all the higher and the lower heats of the stone giving you an even cook as you rotate it. And looking at the pizza bases I've had I think that's done it very well. The colder parts of the stone when you rotate it pick up the heat of the warmer parts of the stone and therefore at the end you'll get an even cook. With the wood fire ovens you do have a door and that kind of brings the heat forward to the front of the stone

Ooni Koda 16 Pizza Oven Review - 8 Months Later!

Koda 16 is Great product. However, there is a big mistake on Amazon site in regards to the product weight. The site states a total weight of 40.1 pounds (~19 Kgs) but after international shipment, the real weight was 27 Kgs (~60 pounds)

Pizza Fight! Home Oven &amp; Steel vs. Ooni Koda 16” (NY Style)

It needs to have more temp control to allow the stone to crisp the pizza and not burn the topping and edge. With a 16 inch Pizza, you are almost guaranteed to burn the edges in an attempt to crisp the bottom of the pizza. This was even after 30 minutes of preheat to get the stone as hot as possible first, then turning down the flame (what little it can turn down).

Very little temp control

After 1 year working with the Ooni Koda 16 I'm ready to share my #1 tip for successfully pursuing your pizza dreams. Give the oven at least a 30 minute pre-heat regardless of what style of pizza you are planning to bake in it. Even if you plan to bake at a lower temp, the oven still needs a FULL preheat! Just because your temp gun is reading high temps it doesn't mean the oven is ready. 20 minutes is not enough, confirmed!

My #1 TIP after 1 Year with the Ooni Koda 16

This oven gets hot! I have trouble getting the pizza stone as hot as the oven, so the top gets done before the bottom gets browned. When you bake a pizza in it, you need to turn the pizza every 20 seconds or so, or it will burn on the side next to the flames. The Ooni folks give you a guide showing the temperature variations on the stone, so be forewarned.
