Monoprice Monolith

Although my original goal was sound isolation like you, my favorite setup is the open back Monoprice Monolith M570 ($200-$250) and a BTR5. The M570s just put a smile on my face every time I use them.

Bottom line, great product, great price. But if you ever use it beyond the warranty period, I’ve been told by Monoprice rep that they don’t sell parts for the amp—that I am free to take the amp to a local shop for repair.

Sub: Monoprice Monolith 10in THX ported. Surrounds: they exist, about to be replaced with Paradigm Audio Mini Monitors. Next time I’m getting two spoils of speaker wire, the monoprice flat was great for across the floor, and a pain for everywhere else.

This amp is heavy and tough. I have this paired up with my denon x4500h and noticed all my klipsch rp speakers have slight low hum if you put your ear right in front of the tweeter. Just want to share that I love my Monoprice Monolith (5 x 200). I usually use it to power center and surround speakers, and an Anthem STR Power amp for front L&R, but I currently have the Monolith connected to the front speakers and it still sounds absolutely amazing. I also just tested LS50 Metas for a month, but only had them connected to the Anthem Amp.

For folks looking to buy the five channel model I would suggest less expensive options. I had an OSD 5x125 that ran me a little under 500 that doesn't sound as good as the monolith but it doesn't sound 2/3rds as bad. The Monoprice amp is good. We had two pairs of LS50 metas and one por of the OG, with amps going from Musical Gidelity M5si, Peachtree Amp500, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen3, Monoprice Monolith, and DACs from Marantz HD-DAC1 to SMSL M500 and M400, a blue sound Node. They all sounded different. Every combo sounded different, and in the end, to us and not for a small margin, the best DAC with the Peachtree Amp500 was the absolute best, followed by the best dac with the Emotiva big amp.
