  then, I wanted to see if I could have another device open the lock via the app like someone in the questions/answers on amazon said it could. not only was that person's response wrong, but I tried it on two different devices I had and it the app wasn't compatible with either my 3-year-old phone or my 4-year-old tablet. I guess you have to have the latest generation of phone in order to use this lock? F that. FYI, the only way to open this lock with bluetooth is to give all of your personal info to Kwikset and manually sync it so that you're in an administrator mode

Since we use our house as a vacation rental it means we can only delete codes after someone checks out if we are within range

Good with bluetooth range-not remote

  This was a very easy install. I loved it so much, that I placed an order for another Kwikset keyless entry unit for my back door. It has the optional auto relock feature. It doesn't require the use of Alexa (not everyone wants that feature)

 I had to lower my rating. I will say the unit I purchased for the back door works far better, but it does not have the feature that syncs with my phone. It's more basic. I may end up switching to the basic Kwikset model on the front door if this continues

 I looked on my phone and it says it's jammed, but there is NOTHING jammed about the unit and it locks and unlocks with ease. I reset the lock as per instructions, and then it still does this. I had to lower my rating. I will say the unit I purchased for the back door works far better, but it does not have the feature that syncs with my phone

 When it locks and unlocks, it is a bit noisy, but my husband says that's reassuring too. I do wish the interior mechanism was smaller, but it looks fine on the door. I'd also love it if it was offered in black on the outside and silver or white on the inside, but then I'd just be nitpicky.

ALMOST Awesome!

You can only access the lock through the App if you are within 25-30 feet of the lock. We are disappointed that we cannot check to make sure door is locked when we are not home. The lock is also VERY loud, do not recommend if it's near a bedroom.

 They offered to send a replacement IF I would give them a credit card until they received the non-working unit or no credit card if I return the non-working unit. Not sure what they wanted me to use for a Door lock in the meantime. Reinstall my old one, I guess.  They told me buying a second one from Amazon was a better solution and then I should return the “bad” unit to Amazon

 Examining the wire connection I observed that the relatively cheap wired connection was missing a “pin” on the male connector.  The 2nd unit had no pin issues and install was quick and easy. Everything works as expected and the codes work, they light up and the lock button performs flawlessly.  So, I believe it’s a good unit and will be the perfect solution for my door lock needs since once installed, the things I struggled with will never be an issue again

The product works as promised but it was a struggle to get there. I wanted a Bluetooth plus key plus keypad deadbolt to replacing an existing keyed deadbolt for less than $100 and this seemed to fit the bill.  Initial install went fine but the lock needed to be removed and extended because the deadbolt didn’t slide smoothly. Then it needed to be removed again and slightly adjusted because the non-key (Bluetooth or code) wouldn’t close completely and gave a “jammed” message

Impressive product but some struggles to get it all working

Excellent except all the moisture.

 You may have noticed in my photo, that my turn lever has had a white pinstripe added, to more easily see which way the bolt is turned in low light situations. Having the turn bolt and the lock body the same color makes it difficult to determine the status. (all previous Kwikset locks had contrasting colors) If the bluetooth app would respond faster, we could check our phone for the status, but it works very slow and most often the app tells me the lock is not online.

Other electronic locks (including the one from 20 years ago) pass those bolts through the electronic plate on the back of the door

 This one requires the bolts to pass through a separate plate and tighten before the electronic mechanism is installed. I also found I had to be much closer then 100 feet for Bluetooth to communicate with the lock. More like 15 feet.
