It is also single walled and semi free-standing as this is the only way they could get a shelter that large to be under 10lbs. As far as poles I would avoid tents with fiberglass poles if the budget allows. Fiberglass is heavy and the poles snap easily and they do not hold up to heavier winds. The Kelty Rumpus and Grand Mesa, Sierra Designs Tabbernash, Slumberjack Daybreak 4p/6p and Coleman tents all have fiberglass poles.

I do not recommend this tent for camping anyplace where you might encounter blowing sand or dust. Unlike many dome tents, the mesh windows in this tent are NOT equipped with zip-up panels - so there is no way to "batten down the hatches" and keep the dust out during a blow. The Kelty grand Mesa 4 is a good tent. Plenty of room for 3 and their gear. A good car camping tent but still light enough for a trip through the BWCA or a hike in base camp.
