First new ski boots in more than 10 years

Hi all, 

I've been checking out old threads, and know this is a common question so my apologies for it being a bit repetitive. I'm hoping to get recs specific to my style and measurements. I'm 5'10", 165lbs, I'd say probably in between intermediate to advanced, skewing towards advanced. I like to stay on piste, ski mostly at Mammoth and always west coast (sometimes Tahoe), I generally like a mix of blue and blacks and going somewhat fast but not crazy at top speeds (40-50mph generally). My budget is a bit lower since I only get on the mountain about 6-8 times a season (looking for older models like 2015-2018ish that I can get around $300-350 max w bindings). Think mid 90s to mid 100s for under foot.

Volkl Mantra - found a pair of these but I think they're too advanced for me

All Mountain Ski recs for intermediate/advanced

Coloradan looking for a daily driver all mtn ski to add to my quiver. 

I spend \~50% of my time with little ones (under 4) on groomers, trees, mild bumps, and small park features. Ideally this unicorn skis switch, is fairly damp, and can hold up when I get the oppy to ski hard. Aka I don't want park skis (Blend), I don't want a directional (mantra/enforcer), I don't want wide planks, and I have a dedicated touring set-ups.

I've narrowed down to the Dynastar free 99 and the Bent 100 (thanks Blister). Anything else I should consider (e.g. Camox, Prodigy)? 

FWIW I know there are trade offs and have other skis when the opportunity presents itself. Current Quiver: Nomad 105(pow), MX98 (early season/low tide), BC Corvus Freebird (winter bc), BC  Ova Freebird (spring skimo).

CO - All Mtn Ski recommendation request

Hi r/Skigear,

I posted to r/Tahoe and here some time ago about my Atomic Cloud 9s that got stolen. They were from 2015-17 and had different technology from the current Cloud 9s.

Sadly I felt a little underwhelmed by the replacements I ordered, which were a bit longer (150 vs 143) since I thought I might need a more stable ski as I progressed. The new skis don’t have the same lively feel/feedback even if they are more stable and don’t feel as fun. I am getting a little depressed as I miss my old skis. 

I am a short light skier (5’2, 105) who needs skis that are good for your knees (had a long ago knee injury) so narrower/shorter skis are preferred. I tend to prefer blue groomers and leisurely skiing and run into a bit of crud in the afternoons. Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

Need help on lively on-piste intermediate ski for women

What is everyone’s setup for this year

I recently bought a set of Kendo 88 to be my daily driver on the east coast. However, I'm planning on buying a second set for the 7ish days I ski out west a season + the rare powder day at Stowe &amp; Jay. Out west, I typically stick to bowls (Vail, Snowbasin, Altbird) and I typically like to rip through them. At stowe, I often play in the trees.  

I'm having trouble finding a ski that suites both of these use cases. Options I've found:

- Enforcer 104 Free

- Icelandic Pioneer 109 

- FR 102

- Moment Wildcat 108

Also for size. I bought the 177 for the Kendo 88s and they feel perfect. Should I go longer or shorter for this ski given the use case for trees and bowls. I'm 5' 10" 155 lb

What second set of ski should I get?

You are looking for a ski that is stable at speed but good in powder, stability means weight. I think you are on the right track looking around mid 100's width for versatility. If you go too wide you are going to have a weird quiver and you can always add a really great dedicated deep day ski later on, think K2 reckoner 122, K2 Mindbender 116c, Bent Chetler 120 or w/e.

I'm an advanced skier when it comes to groomers, I've skied the past few years on 86mm under foot skis and primarily stuck to the groomers. I want a second pair of skis to get more fun out of the deep days, ski in powder bowls, trees and tight terrain. I will primarily ski Stevens Pass and Whistler.

Last year I demoed Rossignol Black Ops Sender and thought they were a step in the right direction, but I'm not sure if they are enough ski for me. Should I get something that is even wider? I regret not demoing wider skis, but I had no idea what to expect moving from my 86mm.

Other skis I'm looking at:
- QST106 these seem very similar to the Senders I demoed but have extra mm underfoot. Would they behave similar?
- Black Crows Anima 115 - significantly wider, I have no idea what to expect out of these, but reviews make it seem like a good fit for me. Except they mention the ski isn't good in powder with a forward stance. Coming from years of carving, I ski in a forward stance by default.
- Dynastar M-Free 108 - I liked the reviews, but I also like speed and seems like they don't have good stability at speed. Otherwise they seem interesting, definitely a different ski from the one I own.
