Jinhao 159

So overall, kudos. Jinhao did a good job creating a pen that I think many people can like.

Great quality also but I might have been lucky. Considering the price the Jinhao 159 might be the best buy out there.

First things first, I'm giving it 3 stars because it's a 3-star pen. There's just no way around it, folks, and it's simply unrealistic to compare this to better pens. * Cheap option: Jinhao 159. It's meant to be "inspired by" the Montblanc 149, except it's made of metal, which adds heft to the already chunky size. I'm not the biggest fan of cheap pens, but I really enjoy my 159. Plus it's got some dings and scratches and I don't care because it only cost me about $15.

The downsides are all easily manageable and it behaves perfectly on my cheap Oxford paper pad out of a medium Jinhao 159. The whole “meme ink” thing is kind of odd, people act like it’s horrible in a lot of ways but it really isn’t.

Can't beat Jinhao for bang for your buck. The 159 and x750 are great writers. You can also swap nibs on them pretty easily.

As i mentioned above, the nib is between broad and medium. Although it looks nice, mine split/misallign after 2 days of using. Moreover, the feed can't provide enough ink most of the time, so after writing 2-3 lines, you would have to wait and it's very frustrating. I'm going to buy an EF nib + lare...

I wish inlaid nibs would make more of a comeback (like come on the Sheaffer ones are GORGEOUS), but I don't mind mass produced steel nibs like Jinhao and Jowo. I kinda like the cheaper nibs purely because they provide an opportunity to try grinding whatever nib type I want, without feeling bad if it goes wrong. I ground the M Jinhao nib in my Jinhao 159 into a crisp italic and it is lovely. At some point I want to try my hand at grinding an Architect, mostly because buying a Jinhao nib and doing it myself is the cheapest way to try one out.
