 Having the ceramic technology, it claims to reduce frizz and add shine, however I have not noticed either when using this. I did notice that using this it does give you sleek results. It comes with a 5-year limited warranty and with all new appliances or tools you should read all the instructions prior to use. I have found this does do a nice job of straightening your hair however I do not feel it works better then other brands I have purchased in the past

 I have curly hair and this flat iron did an amazing job of getting every last curl and wave out of my hair. The problem occurred when I tried to straighten my bangs on the same setting that I used for the rest of my hair. Needless to say my poor bangs were sizzled and smelled like dead hair for days. So my suggestion to you would be to use a lower temperature than the one recommended for your type of hair

This flat iron is beautiful and I really like how big it is. Hot tools usually makes excellent products. I actually read the instructions for once and based on my hair type I chose the temperature suggested. I would maybe not recommend doing that to anyone else

The iron does get pretty hot but my last iron seemed to get hotter and work a little faster. You have to hold it over where it shows the temperature. If you hold it where it feels comfortable it turns it off. It would not be my first choice but it was a decent price

 Of course, there are plenty of good points about this iron too—like the extra long, easy to maneuver swivel cord and the black plastic cool tip at the top of the iron to keep your fingers from getting singed. The golden ceramic plates are a bit smaller than I'd like, but they glide on smooth and don't snag my hair as they pass through. I love how versatile flat irons are and Hot Tools does not disappoint on that front either. You can use this 1” flat iron to straighten your hair, but the beveled sides are perfect for adding beach waves and curling hair, too

 My hair looks shiny, bouncy, and healthy with a salon quality style that lasts for hours. On the other hand, there are two rather glaring design flaws that are hard to overlook—like the fact that the power button and temperature select buttons are located on the top of the iron right next to the LCD screen. This makes it virtually impossible to grip the handle of the iron without accidentally turning it off or increasing/decreasing the temperature with a flick of the thumb. I'm not sure why Hot Tools decided to place these buttons on top of the iron instead of on the side, but it does make handling it a bit tricky at times

 I had never used a flat iron before, so this was a whole new experience. Not sure if some of this is me or the flat iron, but here it goes. First, the instructions were decent, but skimpy. No images, a very brief small trifold in two languages

Good For A First Timer

I got this iron for use on thick and course hair. I used it on both of my daughters – who both have thick and course hair but with slightly different textures. The manual recommends degrees from 380-440 for thick and course hair and I left it at 380 to test. It worked well for both of their hair around the edges

I have an electric hot comb too so for the areas that are especially harder to get flat I will hit it with the hot comb for a bit and then finish it with the flat iron

 Natural or homemade moisturizers are most likely going to contain a natural oil or butter such as coconut, mango, shea or cocoa. I recommend massaging it gently into the scalp and gently combing or brushing it from the scalp to the ends. Let it sit overnight. By the next day, both your scalp and hair will be moisturized and ready to flat iron

My hair stays straight and shiny for days until I wash it. This iron states that it reduces frizz, but in the mornings when the temperatures are still low and there is morning due and fog, it definitely doesn't help much with freeziness

 One of the features that I do appreciate about this product is that it has an auto shut off function which I feel like a must have when it comes to any piece of tool that gets hot. Overall it's a great product, even for those who have fragile hair, there is a 280° temperature set up that will help you from burning your hair. Also this product has got a 5 year warranty, which really suprises me as most of the small tools or any other product only covers their product by 1 year warranty, so having a 5 year one is definitely a plus. Overall I like this product and I enjoy using it every several days, and if you are looking for a quality straightening iron then look into this one, you can't go wrong with it

Great straightening iron!

I was really excited to get this flat iron specially since the one I own is around 9 years old so I was happy to get a new one but to my surprise this one did not work out for me. First I saw that this flat iron has a button at the en near to where the cord is and that button is to lock the flat iron shut, well mine didn't work it just kept getting opened and It didn't close completely so that was a fail. Next the instructions said that the flat iron heats up in just 30 seconds, well mine was left on for around 30 minutes and it didn't reach the heat it was supposed to reach, and then I just said well it's not where it has to be but its still hot so I will give it a try and I started doing my hair just to see that it didn't completely straighten my hair, I had to pass the flat iron through a strand of hair a ton of times to get it to work and even then it didn't to a great job and my hair isn't even that thick so no this flat iron did not work for me at all and then when I was done I tried to turn it of and the power button was not working either so to turn it of I had to unplug it so I guess I'll just stick to my 9 year old flat iron that I got for 1/4 of the price that this one costs.

I do agree with the instructions that you should start lower than that as it may damage your hair – I've found the mid to low 300's work for my hair, but daughter does require a bit higher due to her very thick hair. The design of the styling tool is great – my only complaint would be where the temperature button is positioned

It makes it easier to adjust the temperature without meaning to if you're not paying attention. Not a big deal, but worth noting! The cord on the flat iron is 6 feet, making it easy to maneuver
