Gravelking SK

I had these Gravelking SK 2.1’s installed a couple of week ago, and finally found some time to take them into the woods. These things transformed the bike completely compared to the 42’s I had on there previously. Had a blast with these on the trails, cannonballing over roots, downed branches, etc. It finally feels like the agile monster truck I envisioned when planning this build!

I run WTB Resolute 42mm for choppier gravel rides and Gravelking SK 35mm for road/light gravel riding.

One thing I’ll suggest right away as I have the same bike. Those tires wear super fast. GravelKing SK is a great all rounder.

I wore down a GravelKing SK to this level and was happy riding it on roads and light gravel for ages.

Would be best to replace when you can, but you aren’t likely to die any time too soon riding this.

For proper gravel rides I'll run the Gravelking SK in a 38, on something like Little Elbow - Big Elbow the Gravelking SK in a 43 is my go to, the SK's definitely roll pretty well on tarmac, but for our roads / pathways early season or jumping on some smooth trail the SS is awesome. I have a few sets of wheels so I'll have a road/gravel set up going and then a gravel/trail set up. I find the gravel king SK grips really well in 'trail' stuff compared to say the Pathfinder Pro, I just didn't like the full slick middle if it was anything other than tarmac and I felt the side knobs 'soft' on tarmac or hardpack trail.

I'd avoid Riddlers, they wear down very fast (literally in less than 1500km, mine were almost bald after less than 1200km). Get Raddler instead if you want that same profile, or Maxxis Rambler if you want something speedy and don't need all that much cornering traction (it's a racing tyre but the 45mm version will last almost 3000km easy). Another option is 43mm Panaracer Gravelking SK. It's quite fast and lasts a very long time, but has close to no cornering grip, only good as a rear tyre.

Panaracer GravelKing SK + 38mm. Ride great on pavement, terrific off road. Mine sealed right away, no issues.

I am 180 lb and used 700x43 Gravelking SK for about 2 years on 25 mm wide internal rims. 35-40 psi was the sweet spot. 25 psi is fantastic for offroading.

the gravelking sk is a decent tire. The range on the rear is a little low for my area. As long as your climbs aren’t too tough you should be ok. Has a threaded bb as well which is a plus. Also it seems to be coming from a bike shop so you know it will all be in good working order.

Currently super happy with Gravelking SK+ for everything except for mud. Fast enough on the road grippy enough on dry gravel. 700x35c
