And then the last con is the actual, there's no measurements on the bottom portion of this trekking pole, and so as you can see on the middle part, it actually has measurements which are really easy to use if you set them to a desired length for either hiking or using them to set up your tent

Gossamer Gear LT5 Three Piece Carbon Trekking Poles

 I've used it to catch myself a couple times, so it's definitely a sturdy pole, and I'm over 200 pounds, so I'd fall, it would totally support me. One time I had it give in, but that's because I didn't tighten it all the way, so you just have to make sure you tighten it all the way. But yeah, I definitely recommend these poles, they're made in the USA, pretty much all the others are imported, the black diamond carbon cork ergo I think it's called, they're like $179, they're imported, these are made in the USA for $15, more $195, so they're lighter, made in the USA, they're just very sleek, fitting in the backpack, there's nothing to get hung up on, they just slide right in, and you can take these off if you want, also this thing can pop out here, and you can take this adjustable strap right off, I usually don't use the straps, but on this particular pole I really like that, I really like the straps you can adjust to, so it's just like, just like, perfect. Haven't used a ton of trekking poles, but I can't imagine it getting any better of a grip than this, so

 You can see, what did that take, like, 10 seconds, one's good to go. These are my old pair here, I'll just show you, I'm sure you all know how the flip locks work, but it just saves you a couple seconds, right, it's not that much faster. Anyway, these are 10 ounces, as opposed to all the others are over like a pound, so I definitely, if you're looking to save weight, this is definitely a good way to do it. It's just amazing, I had a thru-hike here when I was on my last hike, I knocked one of these over and he picked it up and he said, wow, that's so light, but it's durable

 They have like the twist lock instead of like the flip lock, but overall I really like them. They're super lightweight. I haven't seen anything that's lighter than these. They're the lightest poles as far as I can see on the market

Not real strong.

 I've used them for maybe 200 miles so far, and haven't had any issues with stability or durability. They're about half the weight of my old entry-level Black Diamond Trail Explorer 2 Trekking Poles, so I don't feel bad stashing my LT5s in my pack if I'm on a section I don't really need them. 

An outstanding set of poles

My old aluminum poles wore out after thousands of miles so I bought a pair of these. I was nervous about them being fragile, but I liked that I can get replacement parts. We've done about 500 miles so far together, mostly in the Sierra, rocky Oregon Coast, and Timberline Trail and I'm not worried anymore. These poles are so light and yet they have survived falling off a cliff and lots of clumsy kerfuffle

The trekking poles are a gift for my son who has qualified for the Mont Blanc this summer.  I know he will like their amazingly light weight and the very comfortable hand grips. Delivery was prompt.
