\- Bookeen notea (android, rare to find outside EU, note focused, sub-par native apps, good alternative if you are not into kobo-kindle-onyx trifecta). \- boyue P10 (el cheapo but not trashy 10" reader, lower specs than other 10", android, good VfM if you mainly want to read and not takes notes likes the others).

Weak in Most Respects

I bought the Likebook P10 hoping it would provide a larger-screen supplement to my Nook Glowwhite (which does not show highlighting very well) and my Kindle Paperwhite (which is extremely poor for inputting notes). - Boyue Likebook: P78 (7.8”); Ares* (7.8”); P10 (10” although does have note-taking isn’t good at all apparently); Alita* (10.3”). For Kobo Elipsa, Onyx Boox devices, and Boyue Likebook P10, a youtube channel called My Deep Guide does excellent reviews.

It’s plasticy and cheap, slow and clunky. Absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I guess the screen size is nice. Go with something in the Onyx Boox line up because this is just awful. Returning it and accessories purchased that go with it.

How much better is the screen of an e-reader than a tablet with a matte steen protector?

That being said, they don’t do great with PDFs (ePubs etc are great on smaller devices) and you’d really need a larger device (at least 10”), depending on the original size of the page of the document. If you’d like to continue using moon+reader or using android, you have options like the Boox Note Air or Boox Note 3 or Boox Max Lumi, also the Boyue Likebook P10 or Likebook Mimas.

Budget large screen e-reader for pdfs?

I got the likebook P10 for the things and needs you mentioned, i'd have gone for a 13.3" but the peices are just too high for my liking. The P10 is an android device though, and it does have optional blue or warm light ehich you can turn off. It goes for 350 US, so a comparable lower price from the ines that sell at the 800 mark.

If you’re not regularly reading PDFs, I don’t think you’d need to go bigger than 8”. But if you do, you have the Kobo Elipsa, the Pocketbook Inkpad X, the Pocketbook Inkpad Lite (lower resolution than other ereaders of comparative size), the Boyue Likebook P10 (also slightly lower resolution than competitors iirc), and the Boox Note 3/Air. Android ereaders take a hit on battery life.

Another example of trash, waste of time to even return this. If you want a mirror, get it for the wonderful high quality reflective reading surface. Might as well use a tablet made with a similar poor quality surface. Highest reflective surface since TV gimmicks.
