Yes. The Boox devices are waaaaaaay faster. You may want to consider the Boyue Likebook P6, also an Android reader, cheaper than the Boox but also a bit slower (still faster than the Kobo/Tolino/Pocketbooks though).

- Onyx Boox: Nova3* (7.8”); Note Air* (10.3”); Note3* (10.3”); Max Lumi* (13.3”). - Boyue Likebook: P78 (7.8”); Ares* (7.8”); P10 (10” although does have note-taking isn’t good at all apparently); Alita* (10.3”). For Kobo Elipsa, Onyx Boox devices, and Boyue Likebook P10, a youtube channel called My Deep Guide does excellent reviews.

Onyx Boox or Boyue Likebook devices, probably, would be the best fit for your needs. They run Android, so they can work like tablets basically.

Android ereaders. Look up Onyx Boox (my pref, they also have a subreddit r/Onyx_Boox), Boyue Likebook/Meebook, Bigme, Xiaomi etc.

Boox and Meebook/Likebook are the easiest 2 to get a hold of on the international market.

You could also consider Boyue Likebook P10. Android like Boox, but a bit less expensive (not quite as feature rich either, but if it's just for reading that doesn't matter as much). Also reMarkable tablet supports PDF.

Wow that's cheap. I have an older Boyue Likebook Muses (7.8" screen) and I paid $325 for that two years ago. Love the note taking feature on it.

Edit: you wouldn’t want to read a PDF that’s originally A4 formatted on a 6” device.

Most powerful is the hisense a7 with 6gb of ram. But it's phablet sized.

I'm selling a like new Boyue Likebook p78, it should hit all your requirements! I used it for manga and with moon+ reader sync and both worked great, and while I haven't personally tried the tts feature, I know it supports it as well.
