As the title says, our new Bodum pour-over arrived today. Being totally enthusiastic about it, I had to try it out at 2:30 in the afternoon. We had some Folgers Silk that's been hanging around for too long, so I used 67 grams of that with about 1010 grams of water. I have a lot to learn, but this first pot is very promising.

4 cup size is VERY SMALL. I got 1-1/2 mug fulls after filling the carafe to the narrow part of the neck. I am returning this for the 8 cup size. Hello Everyone,. Currently I use a Chemex, a French Press and a Bodum Pour-Over with the Chemex being used for the 95% of my brews, the French Press for the remaining 5% and the Bodum Pour-Over virtually never (never managed to get a cup of coffee I enjoyed out of it).

It worked fine but the 4 "cups" are really 2 cups or 16 ounces since Europeans drink a smaller 4 ounce cup. The water drips fast through the filter and some coffee grounds pour through the filter and it makes me feel like I am drinking green tea leaf matcha. I returned for the larger size.

Despite this kit, I see that it is very inconsistent when grinding for the Bodum pour over, something which was made apparent when I went to my buddy's place and we used his Niche Zero to grind for the Bodum, and we had much fewer fines in the brew, despite the fact that the grind actually was smaller than what I use at home for the Bodum. Since I am already looking at getting an espresso machine, I would obviously need a better grinder for that. I know the best option would be to get a grinder for espresso and a grinder for brew, but financially that's not in the cards right now.

This coffee maker is advertised as 4 cups, but really it only makes 1.5 regular cups of coffee. I'm sure it's very good for personal use, but not for two people who drink one regular sized cup of coffee in the morning. I will be exchanging it for the "8 cup" version.

Slower and smaller than I expected, making only two large mugs with lots of grinds. I could not find the called for ? coarse grind? and am not interested in grinding my own. I purchased this to eliminate use of paper filters so it was a bust for me.

Makes good but mild coffee, not as strong as a french press. Biggest problem is that the coffee gets cold quickly and the glass is very hot to the touch. My glass french press holds heat better. Also its a bit harder to clean.
