It's become one of my favorite coffee makers by far, so the second thing I liked was the price point. so I got it for about 16 on Amazon and for me, it has become a staple in my kitchen. The BODUM is better than the CHEMEX! -& Best Recipe for  Bodum POUR-OVER coffee maker

Currently I use a Chemex, a French Press and a Bodum Pour-Over with the Chemex being used for the  95% of my brews, the French Press for the remaining 5% and the Bodum Pour-Over virtually never (never managed to get a cup of coffee I enjoyed out of it). Lately I was looking into adding a V60  to the roaster and was wondering if it's actually worth it. What I mean is, am I missing on something or is that flavour profile already covered by the brewers I already use? Can't really find a Chemex-V60 taste comparison (beside an exceptionally well made video by Seattle Coffee Gear). From what I could gather the V60 would give me a fuller, slightly bitter brew opposite to the smoother, crispier Chemex for the same beans/grind

 What I mean is, am I missing on something or is that flavour profile already covered by the brewers I already use? As the title says, our new Bodum pour-over arrived today.  Being totally enthusiastic about it, I had to try it out at 2:30 in the afternoon.  We had some Folgers Silk that's been hanging around for too long, so I used 67 grams of that with about 1010 grams of water.

First pour to cover the grounds, wait 45 seconds, then continue pouring to get a kilo of water.

I booked the water in a long-necked tea pot, then set it aside to let it cool for a few seconds.  I think I'm going to drill the lid so I can use a meat thermometer to get the right temperature.

  -Also, you should not place your coffee maker on something that is going to suck all the heat out of it, like a marble counter top. Use a trivet or something underneath and your brew will stay warm a lot longer. And if you don't heat up your mug first, use a little hot water in the bottom to do that, it makes a huge difference.  -After you finish brewing, give the coffee maybe 30 seconds to settle, then GENTLY pour into your mug

 While it's always preferable, if you don't bloom them and just pour all the water in, you are going to get a very weak cup. It's not really optional here.  -This coffee maker isn't very dense, and will not insulate well. So you should heat up your maker

 I'd say this is probably the pour over equivalent of a french press, and that's how you have to look at it. The coffee needs more contact time with the water than the filter will give you, so like a french press, it is going to take a few minutes. If you are willing to do all these things, it's a great coffee maker. Me? I think I will pick up some chemex filters and use those on top of the steel
