but now I have this one and - what??? - no snow valance? The snow valance was an essential part of the tent - sewn in extra inches of material all around the tent on which to pile snow kept it completely sealed and very stable in big winds. O ski across Jackson Lake every winter (February) and bivouac in the snow under Mount Moran - have done for years. The 'new' ones - their sides don't even touch the ground so this is impossible. But I bought extra tent material and had a seamstress sew on the snow valances all around the bottom of the sides

I've used and enjoyed my Megamid for several years. Unfortunately the interior side of the fabric has become extremely sticky/tacky/smelly due to degradation of the waterproof coating. The tent sticks to itself and is difficult to pull apart- the material is so sticky that it picks up any bit of dirt, sand, leaves, dog hair etc. and sticks to clothing/skin

 The guy-lines are super strong 3mm cord, however there are no line-locs on the corners so setting it up correctly is very important to get a taught pitch. The center pole being included is a nice touch - its a quality stiff carbon pole. Really excited to try this on some tours in the coming months!
